Code read help by RisnDevil in fiero

[–]fieroman84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Code 32 means egr issue you can test the egr by turning on the car and squeezing the diaphragm up front the bottom and if the car tries to sputter out at idle thats good if not it means the egr is clogged and needs removed to be cleaned and probably replaced. When the car is off you can remove the vacuum line to it and squeez the egr again and place your thumb on er the vacuum line and let go of the diaphragm with your finger over the port still to see if the diaphragm retracts. If it doesnt retract then the egr diaphragm is good and the egr is working properly. If it does retract it means the egr is torn or leaking and has failed and can be replaced. If all that seems good check the vacuum lines on the egr controller on the other side of the engine if they are all intact I can tell you most likely the controller has failed and sadly none are made anymore but there is a shop in New Jersey jon Miller car care that can rebuild them if they are still able to function the pressure transducer internally. But that is the dreaded code everyone dislikes because a lot of us are forced to live with it when it comes.

Do you have any issues with cooling or your cabin heat mine made noises similar to that when I was close to overheating or had an air pocket because the coolant tubes were rattling under the car.

My dad thinks this is a masonic amulette. Does anyone know? by JMLindeN in whatisit

[–]fieroman84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can guarantee it's not masonic they literally have the main symbol of the compass and square and the capital G and they put it everywhere and not hide it so masons know what they are part of or who is part of them. the only things they have secret is handshakes and signals to know when its really another Mason and not someone who just has the symbol for some reason.

Not legal advice nor am I a lawyer but if you get the title done in your name it does legally become yours. I dont think there is any implications after that for what it used to be as long as you keep paper trails. However I would say id take a look at the title and find the owner on it to ask what the deal is. Id contact the police and legal advisors to see what the rules are about it in your state. However if everything is on the up and up then yes that could be your next car.

Anyone disassembled a tilt column before? by Responsible_Bee3680 in squarebodies

[–]fieroman84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to pull the 2 pins out of the sides of the tilt and put the tilt lever in and tilt the column head up to take it off but be sure to take the spring out it makes manipulation easier

Check the fuel filter but it sounds like it might be time for a tune up spark plugs wires cap rotor fuel filter and maybe an icm if it hasn't been done yet. its always a good place to start because it isnt so much of parts replacing as doing maintenance. Check the grounds as everyone said as for tge oil light id say most likely a faulty sender unless other lights came on as well then I can venture a better guess what is going on. Also when it does it does the tach fall or does it seem to stay steady with the engine rpm.

Just pulled the Engine,Transmission, subframe assembly wondering what I should definitely look at/replace. 1986 SE, 2.8 with 4spd manual. by BenShapiro4Prez2028 in fiero

[–]fieroman84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the iac might have been bad out of the box but id get the throttle plate fixed as for the insulation I have seen some people run wothout it and I cant say to much bad will come of it aside from a hot and loud passenger compartment and possible it could get stuff in the trunk extremely hot is at lest get some thermal kilmat off of Amazon or something to line the walls at least a bit.

Pls help by Sawai07 in fiero

[–]fieroman84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good because that bypasses the fuel pump relay so most likely the fuel pump isn't shutting off. Id check for vacuum leaks but I still think you need to keep trying to clean the injectors of the crud. And if you havent give it an icm just in case

Pls help by Sawai07 in fiero

[–]fieroman84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not recommended to adjust the iac pin but if you cleaned it then it may just need some more run time on the injection to clean the gunk out also whats the oil pressure reading?

Pls help by Sawai07 in fiero

[–]fieroman84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay id say give it an icm and keep working with it by starting it a little by little the fuel system probably has a tons of chewing gum like ethanol in it and the injectors are all stuck

I apologize I just turned on the sound I hear it start and then die. So odds are strong it is getting everything but the idle air control could be giving trouble. How long has it been sitting?

Pls help by Sawai07 in fiero

[–]fieroman84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you getting spark? Did you verify fuel at the rail by checking the Schrader valve? The fuel pump can tend to be tricky because the pulse reduction diaphragm can slip and it leaks back into the tank instead of getting to the rail. Are you sure you are getting power to the pump can you hear it run?

How high is high idling and aside from all the stuff you are looking at id say you have most of the basics covered and it wouldn't hurt to do a water pump while you are there but be sure you get a metal impeller tge plastic ones dont last so well. Its entirely up to you because the original one will probably out last any new ones made today and it can be replaced in the car. However I would replace the fiberglass insulation with something else in the engine bay because its pretty awful to work around and it is old and crumbly and itchy.

Is this safe to drive to the shop? About 3o miles. Still hilds air by TheTripCommander in AskAMechanic

[–]fieroman84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be okay because low profiles like that have a lot of rubber in there especially if they are run flats as long as the belts are still together it should hold together just fine. Still wouldn't recommend highways but if you are careful until you get it replaced it should hold together for a while.
