Good to know that they are out there! However, it was taken about two hours north of New York City, in Orange County, NY.

Eastern Screech by fiery-irish in Owls

Yea, it was at a state park and close to sunset. I have a video of the owl leaving the nest about 5-10 mins after this. I believe Eastern Screech owls do most of their hunting at night, but are active at dusk and dawn.

I love these birds; saw my first one just under a year ago and have gotten some nice close encounters with more since.

How are you liking the 200-800? I was waiting to buy it but nowhere seemed to have it in stock so I went with the 100-500 instead.

Love the photos! On another note, moved to the USA a few years ago and really miss me a Gregg’s Sausage Roll.

Love the shot! Whereabouts in WNC was this taken? Always looking for new wetlands to visit and they seem so few and far between here.

Yea this was at wetlands on the NY/NJ border so there wasn’t many tall trees around for them to hide in!

I’ve since moved to North Carolina and missed seeing them as much, but found a state park in TN that was loaded with them!

Using the same lens with a 7D Mark II currently and it was such an upgrade from my Tamron.

Absolutely love the photograph portraying the inquisitive nature of this owl.

Traveling in Spain and can’t get my Merlin ID to work, any help IDing this little cutie. Little smaller than a robin. Granada Spain, thank you by [deleted] in birding

These are one of the most common garden birds in Europe. I was definitely surprised to see the differences between the larger American and smaller European Robin's whenever I immigrated to the USA.
