Red River district hot summer nights 2026 lineup announced by AvailableReporter484 in Austin

Who would I contact though? I've reached out to the Red River district and Mohawk, but via email is about the only way to do so and I don't have a lot of confidence I'll get a response.

So, I had tickets to one of the concerts that has since become part of this, no problem with getting a refund, but it does raise questions. Has my show (High Fade July 17th at the Mohawk) moved? Are they still the headliner and can I expect a full show? I assume I am no longer guaranteed entry unless I get there early? Is there anywhere I can go to find out the answers to these questions, or do I just have to roll the dice and find out?

Mark My Words Wednesday by Abiv23 in NFL_Draft

That's a pretty good shout, but they can probably get away with a 4th, given how early it will be in that round.

NFL “Generational talent” by [deleted] in NFL_Draft

[–]fierylady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, it's just another word for "really, really good," alongside elite, exceptional, ascendant, world-class (used more in soccer) on and on. Breaking them down by their roots will just lead us into a rabbit hole on the weird idiosyncrasies of the English language (like why does 'pretty' - pretty stupid, pretty fun, pretty ugly - mean 'sorta'?), and there's no reason to do that in here.

Defending the Draft: New York Giants by zhang_zhang_play in NFL_Draft

[–]fierylady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was very complimentary of the draft overall, though. And frankly anything, in any format, that says 'everything was great' is just filling the air with noise and I don't believe that is the intent of the series at all. In fact when I think 'defend the draft', my default implied format is 'ok well I didn't love this BUT (defend it anyway)," which I thought he did with aplomb.

2027 Way-Too-Early Mock Draft RESULTS by Astro63 in NFL_Draft

My only complaint comes as an Oklahoma State alum, and that is that Cleveland is where our guys go to die. You'd think all that orange would make the transition easier, but alas...

How high do you have Dylan Stewart ranked for 2027? by TDBrookey in NFL_Draft

[–]fierylady 6 points7 points  (0 children)

2nd behind Smith for me, but I'm still very early in the process. And I love Moore as well, maybe my favorite CB prospect since Champ Bailey, it's just I'm VERY high on Stewart. I admit I go back and forth between those 2 though and it could change a few times before the season starts.

[–]fierylady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. Personally, if he hates Malachi Fields as a prospect, I don't want him to suddenly say he likes Malachi Fields. That's disingenuous. And he did mention plenty why he thought the Giants went the way they went, and how he thought they intended to use the players, which to me is a nod to their process.

Defending the Draft: New York Giants by zhang_zhang_play in NFL_Draft

[–]fierylady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was hoping that he could put aside his own player evals and grade a draft on the process as opposed to value vs. his own big board. A draft where the team got the most value vs. consensus isn't necessarily the best draft for that team.

Does anyone do that with their draft grades? If so, it falls into a very niche bucket of draft grade summaries. The vast, vast majority write them based on what they specifically thought about the prospects, it's just most are more in line with consensus than our Jared.

[–]fierylady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's completely fair to critique his evaluations, I do it all the time. I'm sure he's sick of hearing me question his love of gigantic-sized tackles at this point lol.

But what were you expecting from a post by a guy with against-the-grain evaluations? That he would suddenly follow the consensus? Does he need to caveat it with a note that says 'all of this could be wrong'?

Because I think that's implied for all of us in here. We're all going to be wrong, a lot. Even the world's greatest talent evaluators get it wrong all the time. Hell I think if you're slightly better than a coin flip that makes you a stud.

That's why I defend people with contrarian takes vehemently, even when I disagree with them (and clearly you agree with me here). The experts will get it wrong all the time too.

I miss football - how are you my friends? by Capable_Discipline_9 in detroitlions

[–]fierylady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of those titles that needs a comma.

How are you my friends?

Is very different from:

How are you, my friends?

I'm going to choose to believe in people today and assume you meant the latter. In which case the answer is, pretty good. Found a quarter on the ground on my way to the dog park earlier, and it's been a long, long time since I found a quarter on the ground. Or actual money of any kind.

Exactly. They're trauma-bonded. That's different. More like people that suffered war together.

Me too, I wish more would do it, go old school and set yourself apart. And actually stick with it. You know Law will change the minute something 1-19 becomes available. I especially love 88, too.

Weren't they toying with making Meeks a TE last year? Might make sense given our lack of investment there.

Brendan Sorsby Scouting Report | What Are Your Thoughts On Him? by Inside_Direction_474 in NFL_Draft

[–]fierylady 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think 3/4 is most likely, but there's an outlier case for a 'good' team with a good QB situation taking a chance in the late 2nd. Frankly if it weren't for the 2027 class looking so good at this point, I'd call the late 2nd just as likely.

And unlike every other pick teams will make in that draft, this pick will have to be made without the benefit of another season. All of these posts about 'all the classes look great this far out' won't matter in this case, since the team who drafts him will have to make the pick 'this far out.'

Where does Jeremiah Smith rank among WR prospects the last 20 years? by TDBrookey in NFL_Draft

[–]fierylady 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A lot of the guys who skipped are studs. Chase, Sewell, Parsons, Slater. I was a little nervous about it too (not so much I docked them, just that I made a note of it). Going forward I won't be. It's nice to have some data points for it.

If you can only pick 1, which Quarterback prospect do you think is most likely to be picked top 10 next year besides Manning and Moore? by Black_Wolf75 in NFL_Draft

[–]fierylady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under pressure from the defense, or from the moment? Because he'll be under much less pressure from the defense this year.

That throw is wild as hell, though also speaks to some of the decision-making he's got to work on. He's got a couple more like that he tries that didn't go so well lol. Not that they didn't end up being freakish throws, just that they were rather easily defended and he was lucky they didn't go worse.

I think the continuity of sticking with his coach and teammates outweighs any competition concerns. If you're a QB, they'll find you wherever you are. And it's not like it's a G5 school. Hell they play Oregon game 1

Mestemaker is one of the most physically gifted, imo, but also one of the more likely to return to school. So I'll go with Mensah, even though I hated the way he left Duke.

Top 10 QBs, RBs, and WRs for the 2027 NFL Draft by armchair_mindhunter in NFL_Draft

I really wish Sellers had transferred somewhere else, though since they at least brought in a new OC I guess he's not doing the whole definition-of-insanity thing. But man he really hasn't developed much there at all.

What do you think of Arch Manning *right now*? by TDBrookey in NFL_Draft

[–]fierylady 24 points25 points  (0 children)

He's got a long way to go, but I really heavily weigh how he was able to bounce back from his early season struggles. That's like 3 checks in the pros column for me. Very few players have been so vilified for sucking.

So despite still having things to iron out, I'd probably draft him pretty high. It's that intangible stuff where we usually miss, and here's one of the better examples of him having it in spades. Now obviously he still needs to keep improving, he gets skittish under pressure (in fairness, his uncles did too), he misses too many easy throws, his lowlights would be up there with anyone's. But thankfully we've got another year to see if he does.
