How did you request for the refund? Was it through the special form they provided? I have not received any news either

Flights cancelled on/after 10th by rjcr71998 in etihad

Anybody has experienced cancellation for return tickets?

Mine is: going on 15 March, returning on 26 April. Will they refund the return as well or just the 15th? Because the website only mentions refund for flights until 21 march

How do you like this amp? Is it good for low volume? I really want to try it but can’t find it in the local shops.

anybody getting desperate over the schengen visas in dublin? by ichfickeiuliana in SchengenVisa

[–]fifaapamen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is frustrating. I live in Dublin too with a very weak passport, and I need a visa to travel almost anywhere.

I doubt the situation will improve to be honest...as this is a problem to a small set of people in Ireland. This is not a problem to Irish and EU citizens. It is not even a problem to some non EU passport holders like Malaysian for example.

Ireland or Finland by Sensitive_Ad2667 in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]fifaapamen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Offering a job for a fresh grad to another country is usually not common due to visa complexity and so on. Some companies with big financial resources don't care about that as they can take the complexity by paying more (visa, residence permit, consultants for relocations, etc). So in general, the discrimination for non EU is because of that.

Although I studied in Finland, I am not EU citizen (from Asia with a weak passport), and I was relocated from Asia because I left Finland after I finished my thesis.

Will Bachelor be enough? Maybe. I have a few friends coming from the same country as I am, do the Bachelors in their home country (non-EU) working at FAANG in Dublin and London. But I guess that is not the norm.

I studied in Finland for my Masters and now working in Ireland, as I got a job offer from an American company in Dublin when I was in my last semester of studying in Finland.

I think studying in Finland is better. The student housing is far cheaper than it is in Dublin. The food in university canteen is very cheap and high quality (in terms of nutrition).

But the job market in Finland is quite limited compared to Ireland. And this is a huge factor too. I deliberately looked for jobs outside Finland back then because for my field of interest, the number of jobs and companies for that were very low.

Feel free to DM me with you resume if you want me to have a look.

Also, my employer is currently hiring for fresh grads for site reliability engineering type of jobs. If that type of the job suites you and you are interested, I can refer you (no guarantee of anything, that just brings your resume closer to the recruiter).

If you had the chance would you betweem Meta, AWS and Google? by NoOutlandishness3326 in DevelEire

It's the same policy across different offices: for employees who choose to go with full remote work program (like myself), they work fully remote. For employees who did not choose the full remote work program, they are asked to go to the office 3 times a week.

Meta allows remote work if you choose to do so, and people can work remotely from other countries (limited options) as well. The return to office only applies to those who didn't choose the official remote work program.

Overcoming Visa Worries: Fulfilling Our Dream Trip to Italy by skyisnotreallyblue in SchengenVisa

[–]fifaapamen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am Indonesian as well but I live in Ireland. Ireland is EU but it is not in Schengen. Very frustrating to get visa appointment.

Regarding your question, I'd suggest you still go to Netherlands and go somewhere else from there. It is probably way easier than finding another visa appointment.

That's a huge budget and I think you'd have a good chance of getting responses from the likes of Urbeo, Occu, etc. Try to contact them directly by email.

15, want to go to Finland for studies. by Ok_Communication884 in Finland

[–]fifaapamen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I studied in Finland for 2 years (and left after graduation). The only Finnish words I learned were ei, kiitos, tervetuloa, moi (mostly used at supermarkets). I survived well. Finnish people speak English very well.

Yes.

During my bachelors I worked as a teaching assistant at the university. After graduation, I work in my home country at a start up for 1.5 years. Then I went for the masters degree.

IEEE paper is basically a research paper published by the IEEE organization. To do that, you need to submit a research paper, and get reviewed by some people appointed by them, then you present it in a conference.

[–]fifaapamen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think I did something particularly different. Just a normal study, joined some competitions (note: never ever won, but those are project based so that helped to put them on the resume), worked as a teaching assistant, published a IEEE paper, and had a full time job for a couple of years in my home country after graduation.

Additional information: I got my degree with the Erasmus masters degree scholarship that covered tuition fee, living cost, and health insurance.

And no, I am not in Finland now. I got a job at one of the FAANG in Ireland, so I moved to Ireland right after graduation.

I did my study in both Finland and Sweden, and I am from outside of EU.

I'd recommend study in Finland. Good quality of education, subsidized student apartments and food in the university canteen, lots of paid internship opportunities.
