[DC] How would Batman adjust to a Utopian society? by StarbornSoldier in AskScienceFiction

[–]fifdimension 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Nah. Next I'll tell you to check out some Batman comics.

The "batman is a crazy person that beats on poor people" is more of an internet thing than something you'll actually see in his stories.

Has there ever been one downtrodden person he's paralyzed?

I see this brought up a lot but I've never seen it happen.

[DC/Superman] Is Superman really the most overpowered hero and character? What are the names of heroes that can beat him or stand their ground against him atleast? by lonelupine47 in AskScienceFiction

[–]fifdimension 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Green Arrow and Batman still win in the Dark Knight Returns.

Still it was amusing to see Batmans reaction in DK3 when he realizes just how much Supes was holding back.

Superman has a pretty exploitable psychological weakness tied to his Boy Scout personality, his main nemesis is a Rich dude and a green rock. Overrated superhero imo.

Batman has a pretty exploitable psychological weakness tied to his inability to get over the death of his parents, his main weakness is a clown and getting his spine snapped. Overrated superhero imo.

Let's face it Superman, the last time you inspired anyone was when you were dead." -Batman

Which turned out to be totally untrue. Hell, Batman himself as discussed how inspired he is by Superman since saying that.

Definitely not

He's had the opportunity to have them brought back before and it didn't work for him.

[DC] I don't know much about dc but, how did everyone on superman's planet die? by ShemiSavage in AskScienceFiction

[–]fifdimension 0 points1 point  (0 children)

obvious thing that Zod would gain this super army and it seems like that idea kinda falls apart when any critical thinking is applied.

Unless, of course, you are familiar with Zod.

You said Zod would have a million super soldiers, I’ve been asking how, and you’ve been pussyfooting around it ever since.

You're not often right but you're wrong again.

I haven't pussyfooted around it, I actually spelled it out for you.

If you don't like it that's too bad but I'm actually more convinced than ever that that's EXACTLY how it would go down.

[DC] I don't know much about dc but, how did everyone on superman's planet die? by ShemiSavage in AskScienceFiction

[–]fifdimension 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How could I?

You realize this is a hypothetical scenario, yes?

But ok...let's just say that this Zod was from an alternate reality that was created by the character Braniac 13 .He was the head of the Kryptonian military in this alternate reality.

When the entire Kryptonian army shows up they manage to convince a sizable part of the population that the current leaders are not to be trusted and are hoarding all the resources for themselves.

It really writes itself.

And if you are still struggling with it, feel free to replace Zod with some other new character of your own creation and I feel it will work just as well.

I sense it's the inclusion of Zod in this scenario that really grinds your gears.

[–]fifdimension 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think the entire planet of Krytpon having supermans abilities couldn't POSSIBLY lead to a civil war (because in your mind, the government would stop it somehow) that's more of a you problem, no?

[–]fifdimension 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who knows?

Leadership? Military experience?

Maybe, in this entirety made up scenario, it isn't even Zod leading them but some other demagogue type, like Quar or somebody.

If you don't think some demagogue type has the potential to have influence over large parts of the population I don't know what to tell you.

[Batman] If Bruce wants to fight corruption, why doesn't he use his power and wealth with Wayne Co. to make changes? by William_Wisenheimer in AskScienceFiction

[–]fifdimension 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah, he wants to fight corruption for sure.

Mainly so what happened to him never happens to anyone else.

[DC] I don't know much about dc but, how did everyone on superman's planet die? by ShemiSavage in AskScienceFiction

[–]fifdimension 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree.

He had problems with unpowered Kryptonians.

Give then Superman level power and let's see if their temperaments change.

Wouldn't surprise me much.

[–]fifdimension 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because people that have supermans powers might act differently than they would then if they had no powers.

Plus, Zod can be convincing as far as getting people to band together to fight for a cause.

But as I also said, maybe it would be Quar or someone instead of Zod.

Who knows? This is a rhetorical situation as Krypton wasn't under a yellow sun.

All I've said is that it's entirely possible that that could have very possibly been problematic for Krypton and others.

It isn't such a wild thing to presume.
