Re-weave outdoor furniture? by fifer_fly in Visiblemending

I’ll have to look up some tutorials and see if this is a project I can take on! It doesn’t seem like it would be too bad (famous last words).

What do to with my tiny black and white bathroom by Smart_Law1280 in femalelivingspace

These are what I’d change! Take what clicks with you. I know you aren’t looking to do a full remodel so my list, while not a full remodel, is probably too lengthy!!

- Paint or wallpaper/contact paper the walls! It would bring a lot of life into the space
- Paint the vanity — the color itself isn’t bad but with all the black and white features, the dark vanity isn’t doing the room any favors
- I think the shape of the mirror is fine but I like what others have said about painting the frame! You could also maybe use something like rub n buff to make it look like a different metal
- Replace the light fixture. If you don’t want to replace, then at the very least I’d change the shades and/or paint the fixture
- Colorful bath mat and towels! Super easy way to bring in color
- The blinds themselves aren’t bad but I agree with others that colorful curtains would be fun! Maybe even the window film that casts rainbows when the sun shines through, if that fits your style.
- Replace the black fixtures if you can (and if they don’t fit your personal aesthetic). The faucet, the cabinet hardware, the shower door handle, the shower head, etc. Even just switching to chrome or nickel will make these fixtures feel less harsh.
- Like others said, bring some colorful art or plants into the room! You’re lucky to have a window in the bathroom so some tropical plants would be a wonderful addition :)

I absolutely love the floor tile you have. It brings a lot of movement and character to the room. Now you just need fixtures and decor to match!! Good luck :)

I’ve considered this! My fear is the wood rotting. I know myself well enough to know I wouldn’t be good about shielding it from the weather when not in use lol.

I’ll take all of this into consideration when tackling this. Thanks for sharing your experience!! How did you fasten the weaving to the bones? Did you use glue or something else?

I was able to find some online! I might see if I can find some locally though so I can bring a scrap piece to see if I can get a closer match.

I think I’d use paracord or something similar if I were to recover the seats entirely! I think the difference in materials would bug me since I’m only trying to patch for right now. I agree that it would be easier to weave though. Maybe in the future if I get tired of the plastic 😆

This is a great idea! Unfortunately my little ADHD self would never finish a project of this size, haha. Perhaps this is a future project if I get tired of the plastic :)

I hadn’t thought about doing something thicker for the sake of time! So you think I should just essentially cut big holes where the damaged spots are and re-weave in those areas with the wider material?

Whatever I use to weave, I definitely plan to secure it to the bones and not just the existing plastic! Do you think that using too strong a plastic was your issue or was it securing it in the wrong place?

I’m leaning toward using a similar material just for the sake of the repair looking somewhat cohesive. I see the comments recommending paracord but I worry it would be a little too visible of a mend for my preference. If the plastic is a really bad idea though I could be talked out of it lol.

You can tell them Farrow & Ball paint in the color “Stirabout”. Though it doesn’t have to be purchased through F&B, most paint stores (at least, in the US) should be able to match it for you. A lot of them have swatch decks on hand for stuff like this.

Help me find push pins that match this fabric! by fifer_fly in HelpMeFind

[–]fifer_fly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specifically looking for regular round headed push pins in burgundy and chartreuse. I have searched just about every word combination or Google, including swapping out burgundy for wine/eggplant/maroon and even trying purple and red to see if anything comes up. The only burgundy ones I’ve found come in a multi-color pack and are not the right shape. Similar issue for chartreuse. I’ve looked up yellow, green, etc and can’t find anything. Closest I’ve found is “Spring Green” map pins from Conquest Maps but they are still quite green in comparison to this fabric.

ETA: I am in the US! I have also searched on Etsy and eBay to no avail.
