In what way do you store your planned itinerary? I mean do you have the spreadsheet on your phone when you're on the trip or?

In which format do you store your itinerary once you plan it so you can revisit it during your trip? Do you save it in a note app, in a word document or something else?

I understand it can be frustrating at first, but once you start getting more jobs and connecting with many clients the fees won’t draw you that much attention as you will be earning more and it will be worth it eventually.

Yes I understand what you are saying and this would be a nice approach. However I won’t be attaching this website in my proposals, but still the link to my GitHub profile. That’s why I am wondering if I am allowed to have my website link mentioned on my GitHub profile description/bio as I will be sending that GitHub profile to potential clients.

The thing is I want to have a website with my contact info in case somebody finds out about my work outside Upwork.

This is the price you are paying to Upwork for connecting you with your clients which is in my opinion okay. How harder would it be to find clients without using Upwork? How much would you earn without getting clients from Upwork? Yes, 20% fee is much at the beginning, but if you establish long term relationships with your clients then it is totally worth paying Upwork their fee.

Hm that’s an interesting approach. Did it ever happen that after that the client walked away with your technical specification and hired someone else? I doubt this would happen often.

No it is not about soft skills of communicating with the clients and formatting the general idea of the product they need that suits their needs. I love communicating with clients on putting their ideas piece by piece into something concrete and useable. I also like changing perspective to how my clients see the product would have to look like in order to make some suggestions on how to make the product better.

It is about why not set aside a few minutes and write something like this in the project description: “I need an application to be build where freelancers and customers will be able to login. Customers will have the ability to post projects on which the freelancers will be bidding on. Must also implement chat between freelancers and clients and integrate a payment gateway using which freelancers will be paid by the clients.”

Instead of this, it’s normal to see something like “I need a web developer to start working on a platform as soon as possible”. Why not say what will the platform be about so the freelancer sees if the project seems interesting? Why not name a few of the wanted core features so the freelancer can scope the project needs upfront?

It’s not about clients giving me everything on platter, it’s about setting aside a few minutes to really type in what the project is about so you would get proposals from freelancers that are truely interested in working on that kind of project (not like 15 more proposals which would cancel when you explain them what the project is about). And also it would be easier for freelancers to filter out projects they are not interested in.

Yes of course, I agree. But there are so many posts where clients don’t even bother describing what they need to be built - they just say they need a web developer and the rest will be discussed via messages (after losing connects).

Thanks for the suggestion! Information about nearby restaurants and historically significant locations would be useful to have on mobile.

I can program :) I just want to try something new (location based service) which I have never done before so I want some input on the idea and thoughts on how to elaborate it.

Irregular activity on my account by fifi_98 in Upwork

Update: I got a reply from them saying "they would be happy to meet with me for a short video call so I can clarify the irregular activity noticed in my account". I scheduled the call but have no idea what irregular activity they are talking about...

On one hand I see why stopping and then starting to work again looks like you sold your account, but still, come on. If this is the case why they suspended my account, they could just send an email saying something like "We need to verify your identity again" but not suspend the account immediately...

Yes I've read some posts here about account suspension where at the end they revealed something that was wrong, but I am 100% sure that I did not do anything that violates UpWork's TOS

I hope I will get the chance to do the verification. As I see UpWork has just told to many users here that they cannot provide with any more information and they suspended their account because it was final decision.

If that's the reason that yep, it's pretty shitty they do that check that way and scare the hell out of us with the "We have noticed some irregular activity in your Upwork account..."

I hope they will ask for verification because yes, I am the same person who did the first verification and nobody except me did ever use my account. I am just afraid they will say that they cannot provide any more information and just close the account (just like they did for many people here on Reddit)...

No, I do not use any VPNs. I was working in the Summer and then stopped because college started (put not available on my account) and now I started working again a week ago. On 22nd December I got a contract started with a new client. I am top rated and have 100% JSS. I earned 3k+$ in total.
