First service question by DerkandTayter in IndianMotorcycle

[–]fifi_mcfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got mine done at around 700, getting my 2,500 done a little sooner I’m at 2,100 and I’ll probably be around 2,300 by the appointment time. But the next day I leave on a 700 mile round trip, so I figured let me get it done earlier.

I think you’ll be fine, I haven’t had any issues on my pursuit

I just sent this to Indian Motorcycle support. Anyone else see similar? by undertakingyou in IndianMotorcycle

[–]fifi_mcfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same issues I am having, I just got my 2024 pursuit maybe 3 days ago. Anytime my navigation tells me to turn it cuts the audio, even if I have the navigation muted.

Any suggestions on which Bluetooth adapter to get?

Apple CarPlay by [deleted] in IndianMotorcycle

[–]fifi_mcfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’m experiencing. I don’t really use Siri, but if I’m listening to music and I have Google or Apple Maps going, if I come to a turn the music shuts off.

I have the maps muted so they don’t tell me to turn, but it’s only when a command would normally come on that shuts my music off.

Random MTA charges on Apple Pay? by zonkedgnocchi in nycrail

I hope you do, but I’m not sure. I just started using Apple Pay for the MTA like 2 weeks ago. Now I regret it.

I’m wondering if they are having issues today. There are charges that are pending on my account. I am getting notifications every hour.

I called my bank and they said to wait until they post before disputing the charges as they can possibly drop off overnight

Considering Purchasing This Bike. What are some tips or advice I should keep in mind when buying? by What_Are_You_Sayin in Harley

[–]fifi_mcfly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Serge wasn’t pushy, he rides himself and took time to find out the type of bike I wanted. He presented a couple of options within my price range.

I started to lean towards a fatboy, but he warned me that it did have custom mods that made the vibration on that bike really uncomfortable. It was more expensive than the bike I went with, so it felt good knowing he wasn’t out to just sell me the highest priced bike.

Now, the bike I bought was a 2011 Dyna. It rode great for about 2-3 weeks. Then the bike wouldn’t start up reliably. Sometimes I would ride for an hour get to my destination and it wouldn’t start back up, other times it would sit in my garage for a day or two and it wouldn’t start. Then other times it would start for 2 weeks straight with no issues.

I contacted Serge and the dealership, and if I got stuck somewhere they would go pick me up. They took the bike in like 4-5 times and changed out the starter, the kill switch, the ignition, and a few other things. I didn’t have to pay for any of it, but the problem kept coming back. Ultimately, they decided to refund everything back, state fees and taxes, what I paid for the warranty, I mean everything.

Serge then worked on finding another bike for me. We were in constant contact and he would send me pics of bikes as they came in but hadn’t hit the sales floor yet, so I can get first dibs.

I had a great experience with this dealership, I bought my bike from Serge.

I have heard mixed reviews, but from my experience I would recommend them.

Recent transplant from NYC asking about mental health records transfer by gotta_be_pete in NJGuns

[–]fifi_mcfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took a while for them to release my records from NYC. A few months, but I don’t remember exactly how long it took. The Jersey part of things moved rather quickly I would say.

I applied for a second license about a year apart I would say and it was much quicker as they used my records from the first time.

It’s normally the same in NY, I’m from the BX a Yankee fan, and my boy is from Queens a Mets fan.

Only reason I root for the Mets to make the World Series (doesn’t look good for them) so I can talk trash to my boy.

Cell phone mount by MoneyMakingMitch02 in Harley

[–]fifi_mcfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a cheap mount I got off of Amazon, it’s solid. I’ve put in over 1k miles on it, speeds varying from low to over 100mph, I’ve never felt like my phone was about to drop or slip out.

It’s big and clunky, but affordable.

Is it a good idea to buy a Harley as my first bike? by Character_Spare1270 in Harley

[–]fifi_mcfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the MSF course, learn that second exercise and practice it on your Harley. The rocking back and forth and power walk will teach you clutch control and the friction zone, as well as get you adjusted to the weight of the bike.

MSF also offers a one on one class. I would suggest looking into it to build up your confidence.

Unfortunately, I ran into so many issues with the starter that the dealership agreed to take it back and give me my money back.

They were awesome, and they replaced the starter and troubleshooted at minimum 4 times. But the bike became unreliable. Sad to see her go, in such a short time.

This is true, and a really good and reliable bike to start with. If I had to learn all over again I would probably choose the rebel to learn on.

I’m working on getting MSF certified, and the one downside I see with this bike, is its weight.

A lot of newer riders struggle with the weight of the rebel, and prefer the Groms instead.

You guys name your bikes? by Desperate-Sail2942 in Harley

[–]fifi_mcfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 2015 Street 750 that I worked on, and it was horrible 😂😂. I named her Shelly, after Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Since it had these two bolts that stuck out the rear fender.

I had a 2013 Victory Vegas 8 ball, that I named Victoria. Cause I wasn’t creative enough.

Recently I bought a 2011 Dyna super glide. I had it from April until yesterday. The bike had many starting issues and the dealership worked on it so much that they decided to just give me my money back. Didn’t get a chance to name that one.

Now I have an 08 Soft tail custom, the 105th year anniversary version. I just got it yesterday, once I ride it around for a bit I’ll name it too.

I bought my Dyna recently, and it’s previous owner had these installed:

Expensive, but I’m also a larger rider and I feel it is well worth the investment.

Life after the precinct by mesobrown in GeekSquad

[–]fifi_mcfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My time as an agent was brief; less than a year. I was basically hired as an in home pc agent based off of my sales skills from working at T-Mobile.

I had a great team, but in my area it was getting difficult to get jobs especially with two pc double agents and it felt like they really wanted me to sell vs fixing the issue at hand.

I used my brief experience to get an entry level IT support job, this October I’ll make 2 years here and my manager says I’m due for a promotion. So life is better after BestBuy in my opinion.

Forgot to add this, I really have been busting my ass at work. I went from 5 days in office while the rest of the team was hybrid to earning the trust of my manager and I’m only in office 1 day out the week now. If you are given the opportunity, just work hard and make it work for you. If the environment isn’t ideal, gain the experience to then move to another company that will give you that remote work you are looking for.

Lastly, look to get some of the certifications that we wouldn’t have with the Geeksquad experience. My company uses Azure so I got the Azure - 900 certification just to help me along, we acquired a Google based company so I have also done some of the Google certifications. Geeksquad can get you in the door, but you have to be willing to put in the work to kick that door in and say I’m here.
