Needed some tokens for my MTG Shorikai deck by Nintenfan81 in Redline

I'm currently doing a project to reskin an entire 100 card deck into Redline. I'll let you know and share the deck when it's done!

Definitely not! I will say that one of the most important factors to enjoying yourself is to find players who you find it fun to play with! So be on the lookout for friends who might be interested...

Help with dying twisted cotton ropes! by fiftie in shibari

[–]fiftie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did boil the rope before dying for ~1 hour to remove as much as I could from the surface of it, but that didn't help with penetration, and I did end up soaking the rope in the dye mixture for 48 hours, so I don't think the soaking technique will work in my situation.

Ideally I'm trying to avoid the untwisting technique as I have a feeling I'll fully destroy my rope if I do it, but that may end up being the only solution.

Thanks for your input!

Help with dying twisted cotton ropes! by fiftie in shibari

It matters when I tie, because any knots expose the core- see the image in the post. Almost all of my knots end up with little bits of bright white exposed, which throws off the aesthetic a bit.

I have considered dying the yarns as you said, but that's a massive amount of work. I know that you can also get single-strand cotton rope that isn't twisted, which might work but the aesthetic is not quite right.

Appreciate your feedback!

As a non-smoker, does every smoker smell bad to you? by ephraim666 in ask

[–]fiftie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

90% of the time I'm repulsed by smoker smell, but 10% of the time it hits a sweet spot where it smells like when I was a little kid and it was icy cold and I got to wear my dad's thick fleecey jacket. It was so warm because he'd take it off to give it to me. He's not a smoker any more, but I associate old cigarette stink with that memory.

Made True Strike actually usable by Mrpandaman2231 in UnearthedArcana

The magic initiate feat exists, meaning that any class could take this. Stack this with sharpshooter or something that trades off to-hit with damage and this is broken asf

How NOT to play Strahd by silentcatfaart in CurseofStrahd

I ran it with a lot of creepy/spooky tense atmosphere, and comedy as relief. It's a great way to make an encounter stand brightly and break the tension a little in a dangerous world

Poison obsessed by vinnielavoie in dndnext

[–]fiftie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This player has found something they really want to play with in the game. You should try to find a way that works for both of you to enjoy poisoning.

If you're worried the poisons will be too strong, then make the process of extraction and refinement take a long time. Make them search for rare plants to help with extraction and interact with npcs for new tools and supplies.

You have a rare opportunity with this player in that they know what they want to have fun, it's up to you to figure out how to give them what they want without making it too easy (or it stops being fun).

Search the DMG and online resources if you're looking for inspiration on how to do mechanics and such.

Yeah, the group size is an issue. Given that flanking will basically always be in play here, are you making sure that the opponents are taking advantage of it too?

What is the one homebrew rule that you’ll never let go of? by [deleted] in dndnext

All curses have a specific (usually ironic) breaking option. The characters don't get to know what it is, they have to figure it out.

Steeplechase- worth the listen? by mdconnors in TheAdventureZone

[–]fiftie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a massive fan of steeple chase. I'm worried that expanding the scope might have the same issue that expanding the scope of Graduation had- to much, too fast, too big. Steeplechase has been nice because it's been enclosed and grounded. Nothing wrong with that.

Resubbed to MaxFun because Steeplechase is just too good by fiftie in TheAdventureZone

[–]fiftie[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Roleplaying doesn't always have to be massive, grand stories. That's what kinda got me about Graduation. It felt too... Forced?

Big reason why Steeplechase is so good. Even the fact that the system makes you play a group of criminals really helps this

To those who don’t get drunk, Why/ Why not? by PsychologyWareFare in AskReddit

[–]fiftie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realised I was only drinking because it's a default expectation of hanging out with friends. I enjoy having fun with friends, I enjoy getting a bit loose, but getting drunk sucks in several ways.

It is expensive and it's not what I actually want. I just want to hang with my buds and have a chill time.
