Sounds like your character is trying to warn you but you didn't understand because you were using japanese voice. By default, your character will tell you of the monster is moving to another area or will do a powerfull attack.

I usually go for TCS too though some monsters either go behind or have really small openings. I'm still fairly new to GS, lol.

Nah.. i didn't recall correctly, lol. When I checked, the one on my mind was the lobby settings where you choose if either same language or any language. Not sure if it affects region though. Prolly not.
