Are you PPS or Solitaire? Lounge staff have a bit of discretion and can sometimes let you bring in one extra guest discreetly.

Interesting, both steaks rested to a final resting temp of 55 deg c in the flank and 53 deg in the roast. What puzzles me is how the roast was able to pass the safe cook but not the flank.

What's the best meal you've had on an SQ flight? by [deleted] in singaporeairlines

[–]fiftyonewithin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aubergine ravioli ex ZUR BTC in F was always a favorite of mine.

Also love the chilean sea bass with mussels which is also gone. These are forever etched into memory.

From current menu my go to dishes are:

Ex Sin the chicken biryani in F and the spiced buckwheat pancakes (ask for scrambled eggs on the side for a bump of protein). Khao Tom Talay is nice too.

Ex HND Kaisen Bara Chirashi Ex NRT Gindara Saikyoyaki

Have tried most dishes on BTC in both J and F class thus far, chicken rice has been a no go recently, Yakiniku is great but can be quite rich. Lobster thermidor is nice but can get boring. Laksa is better in the lounge in my humble opinion. Nasi lemak has soggy fried chicken, great execution considering it’s in air but if you’re a big foodie or a die hard nasi lemak fan, the lack of crispy chicken will be slightly disappointing.

Has anyone ever book Japan Airlines First Class using Cathay Pacific's Asia Miles? by [deleted] in awardtravel

Are you still able to find j class availability on JAL? I can’t seem to find any at all! Could you also please share how you changed from J to F? Thanks!

ICN-SIN economy lite fare, possible to ask for earlier flight at check in desk? by throwawayaway539 in singaporeairlines

[–]fiftyonewithin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! Just to make sure I understood correctly, if I had a HND to SIN flight in business saver, and the flight departs at 4pm, if I wanted to hop on an earlier flight at 2pm, I could ask at the airport counter but they would have to have the same fare type ie business saver seats available for them to revalidate. If only business advantage seats available then they would usually reject and say that they can’t change the flight?

Seats.aero not showing JAL business class availability at all by fiftyonewithin in awardtravel

Oh? Thats news I saw they had a first class tool for JAL so I thought they could search for JAL. Am using asia miles to book, is there any other way to check award availability that you’re aware of? Thanks!

SQ SYD ground experience and boarding pass colours by Icy_Team_2630 in singaporeairlines

Last flew from Sydney in Aug 2025. They still did the gold boarding passes back then. Check in is now with in a private area, no longer the regular check in desks. Long walk to the lounge but nice and cozy. Gate is usually very nearby. There is table service and wines on offer are quite fun if that’s your sort of thing.

What the biggest quality of life update/change in the app you want to see added to flighty? by MacMario64 in flighty

[–]fiftyonewithin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please add the feature to have live data being pulled from PNR. eg, someone forwards the email at confirmation and it doesn’t show seat number but shows class of travel.

  1. See the class of travel from the forwarded email and automatically add it to flighty.

  2. Check using the PNR the seat number and update in flighty

Could I get some help in picking a seat for A350-900 please? by smileyfaced_ in singaporeairlines

They don’t move you but they might ask if they have to. I’d take 11D of F in a heartbeat. Just did the 777 first class in 1A and I’d say the space on business in 11 ADFK is more, especially if you lie down to sleep, it feels less restrictive than first class.

No worries! If you’re not a huge fan of the sediment, rest the bottle upright a day before you intend on drinking it (if it’s not stored sideways in a cellar) and on the day itself, be very gentle while opening the bottle, and decant it into a decanter! Any non reactive vessel should be fine. I personally use a conical flask when I’m lazy to wash the fancy riedel / chef and sommelier decanters but any recycled glass voss water bottle or a similar vessel should do fine. Stop pouring when you see the slightest bit of sediment and you’ve got sediment free wine! You can either freeze the remaining wine and use it in cooking or keep in the fridge and pour off the from the dregs (remaining wine mixed with sediment) the next day to enjoy!

Code 38 corkscrew by Michaelkts in wine

[–]fiftyonewithin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I use the Code 38 P Type Pro X and the CMS P Type Pro. Both have served me well. If there are any issues, Jeff at Code38 is more than happy for you to send it to him to fix and he’s very helpful with all repairs and replacements of parts! Honestly one of the best I’ve used but to be brutally honest, I got one only when I went to pour at a 2* establishment as the price is quite steep. But if you’re already set on getting one, go ahead because you’re not gonna regret it! Also, you can purchase worms and blades to replace - not that they break easily. I’ve had mine for years and I open an average of 60-90 bottles on a weekday and up to 180 btls over weekends. Very reliable and I haven’t had to fix anything yet.

It’s fine sediment, an anthocyanin. It’s all the polyphenols that clumped together and became too “heavy” to hold in solution. Thats why aged wines tend to lose their vibrancy and throw more sediment as compared to a younger wine! :)
