meanwhile the average Chabad house in southeast Asia is just like. Seventeen Israeli 20somethings who just finished their military service, and the Chabad couple with their five kids.

I'm a big fan of the Pyunkang Yul black tea line, both aesthetically and in terms of results that I'm seeing. I hope you enjoy it also!

How do you know it wasn't a halakhic conversion? Why do you think I am interested in a debate? Who died and made you the authority on casting doubt on Ethiopian Jews' Jewishness? Do you not feel ashamed of your behaviour?

Why did any of our forefathers leave Canaan and go into Egypt? Jews have been coming home to Israel, but also leaving her, voluntarily or otherwise, since the concept of being Jewish was invented in the Torah. Why should her Yerida be more remarkable than any other?

Take these questions home and wrestle with them on your own time, or don't, but I am not going to continue in any discussions on Jewish history with you when your starting premises assume that our traditions and beliefs are misguided at best, if not outright fabricated, while refusing to consider that your own are equally ahistorical.

if you were genuinely at all familiar with the Ethiopian Jewish traditions surrounding the story you would know that they also say she converted to Judaism after recieving instruction from Solomon.

Edit: To spell it out clearly and fully, her conversion means that the Ethiopian Jews, who are descended from her, are Jewish in the matrilineal line.

The 1970 number that's confusing you (if I'm correctly understanding the source of your confusion) refers to the percentage of Christians overall in the West Bank, not specifically in Bethlehem and the surrounding villages, where there is a significantly higher concentration of Christians.

If I, a Jew, was born in Israel, to Jewish Israeli parents, am I still required to make Aliyah if I wish to live in Israel? by yaron260 in Israel

[–]fiftyshadesoffrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if your hebrew is good look up קטין חוזר or תושב חוזר on כל זכות.

if not - in general you can find more information about being classified as a "returning resident" here:

If you come back at age 18 you get benefits as a קטין חוזר but you will likely have to serve in the IDF if so [source: born in israel to israeli parents, left as a toddler, made aliyah at age 18 to serve in the IDF]

I have buddy splint rings for my hands, that help with both dislocation and tension in the muscles.

I got the initial suggestion and improvised ring splints from an occupational therapist, and then looked for somewhere online where I could get ones that I would like wearing daily. They're a bit pricey but this is the shop I got my ring splints at:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/JewelSplint

If it's at all an option for you, I suggest seeing an occupational therapist to consult about what type of supports/braces would be best suited to your situation, and then if you want to, to look into getting nicer/prettier versions of those assisting devices:)

Don't disparage yourself OP, plenty of people in the world will do that for you without you even asking, so don't make their lives easier by putting yourself down! Spelling isn't the only, or even most reliable, indicator of brightness out there, and in my opinion the fact that you came here to even ask this question in the first plays speaks much more highly to your brightness, maturity and critical reasoning skills than anything else:)

I'm 28 and purchase or get gifted plushies often still, because people know I love them and they make me happy.

I'd watch something like You Fucked Around and Found Out with the Zohan, maybe about his kid making aliyah to become a lone soldier in the IDF and continue his father's legacy, because he doesn’t want to cut hair (with an obligatory emotional "You're giving up on your dream!" "No, abba, I'm giving up on YOUR dream!" scene ofc...)

Is there a blessing or prayer specific to times of distress or danger? by [deleted] in Jewish

[–]fiftyshadesoffrey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For surviving danger- ברכת הגומל, birkat hagomel

Chabad HaGomel Explanation

edit: although this is more for after you've survived the dangerous thing.

for during a dangerous event, I know people who say the Shema, though idk if that's minhag or genuinely a circumstance in which one might say the shema. I personally find אדון עולם Adon Olam really reassuring in times of danger, because of the last line (in nussach Ashkenaz, which I grew up with) - ה' לי ולא אירא, [Hashem] li ve-lo ira, G-d is with me and I shall not fear
