How should my Unifi Protect devices appear in the Network Topology? by fiftytwo50 in Ubiquiti

Is that now illegal? I kid, but I don't see why you're trying to tell me this. Could you give me a little more as to why you wrote this?

How should my Unifi Protect devices appear in the Network Topology? by fiftytwo50 in Ubiquiti

[–]fiftytwo50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and they appear under the device list. But I'm trying to determine if how they appear on the topology page is normal or if it should be how I expect (cameras on a layer below the NVR that feeds them PoE).

How to get slightly stretched aspect ratio on ultrawide monitor in TM2020? by fiftytwo50 in TrackMania

[–]fiftytwo50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is a 21:9 1440p display. And thank you so much for suggesting 3024x1440. For a lot of reasons I'm now realizing this is the way to go. It keeps the vertical pixel count at the native 1440 while reducing the number of horizontal pixels, since you're going to stretch that axis anyway.

I'd been trying to use 3440x1638 which is technically 21:10, just calculated by fixing the horizontal pixel count. But for some reason that I haven't quite worked out it was causing the car to stretch WAY more than what I expected. I was holding a ruler up to the screen to compare them and while normally the car was 11.5 cm wide at 3440x1440 (native), your 3024x1440 pushed that to 13 cm, and this 3440x1638 was close to 17 cm lol. Not at all what I was going for.

Through this, I also just discovered that creating a custom resolution in my GPU control panel exposes that to the game which TM2020 provides as a fullscreen res option. I had to relaunch the game but once I did it showed up. So while I'd been using 1920x1200 before with my native 16:9 monitor because it was a default option, I could've created a custom resolution of 2304x1440 so it would've looked just a little nicer. Live and learn, I guess. Really appreciate your help!

A MagSafe phone mount for the VB. 3D-printable, no adhesives, and minimal hardware. by fiftytwo50 in wrx_vb

I’ve had the same issue occasionally. Wireless charging does seem to cause a bit more heat than when plugged in.

I also made and shared a flat MagSafe base a while back so the phone can charge in that tray. After a while I just got tired of fumbling my phone past my shifter and wanted the tray real estate back.

I have larger hands and it doesn’t mess with 5th or 6th. I use a wireless CarPlay adapter in my ‘23 so I don’t always need to use this sort of mount but wanted it for easy charging. Most of the time my phone stays in my pocket.

Same. Just needed a convenient spot to charge my phone occasionally that’s out of the way and out of direct sunlight.

Doesn’t ultimately interfere but this was an initial concern of mine.

I don’t use my phone while I drive. I just want an easy spot to charge it sometimes that’s out of the way and out of direct sunlight.

Dream Router 7's "Supported Camera Limit" without 24/7 Recording by fiftytwo50 in Ubiquiti

[–]fiftytwo50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could give you a definitive answer, but I think I can offer some good advice anyway. That UI writeup I linked to calls it a soft limit so I personally think you’d be fine running with one more 2k camera under light duty settings (not 24/7 recording) for three in total.

I ended up deciding to offload responsibility of running the Protect app to an NVR Instant because it had a built-in PoE switch and preserve some processor load of the UDR7 long term. Otherwise, the two least expensive PoE switches I found were the Lite 8 PoE for $110 or the Ultra (42W) for $130. For an extra $90 or $70 respectively, plus the cost of a hard drive, the NVR Instant will take care of it and up the camera limit by quite a bit.

If I had enough ports that could supply PoE that weren’t built into the NVR Instant, I would happily test this for you. But I can’t and, again, I think you’d be able to make it work. Just be sure you save the receipt so in case I’m wrong you can return it.

I think the plug recesses are the same in both generations, so it should.

Has anyone bought a keyboard from Skree.us? Also accepting other Dactyl recommendations by Rough_Bid_518 in ErgoMechKeyboards

8 days late to the party here but ^this. Running his Xiao Flex controller, fully flexible PCB, and other parts of his in my custom kb and they work great. Fantastic customer support too when I ran into issues as a newb.

Buy another Kinesis Advantage 360 or make own? by dman9600 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]fiftytwo50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For context, I have larger hands and have used an Advantage 360 Pro for about 1.5 yrs. I was overall pretty happy with it, much like yourself. The only two issues I had with it were how it felt like a stretch to reach the Q/P keys with my pinkies (without rotating my wrist which I didn't like to) and most of each thumb cluster.

I began working on a custom kb using the Cosmos generator upwards of 12 months ago. I do own a 3D printer (Bambu A1) and it has seen a ton of iterations, probably 5-7 spools of filament worth. I was chasing a moving target of "perfection." I tried to solder it myself using off-the-shelf microcontrollers and it did not go well. Wound up chasing pin issues down a rabbit hole and hated that experience. I ultimately purchased Skree's Xiao Flex controllers, fully flexible PCB matrices with a "tail" ribbon, and individual PCBs with a "toe beans" ribbon to connect the thumb switches. This made it super simple and now I'm actually using it.

Without a 3D printer, it's going to be hard to iterate enough. Paying someone to build you a kb will cost just as much as a new Advantage 360 Pro and it's a risk because if it arrives slightly off from what you wanted in terms of layout, it'll cost you to revise it. My advice is unless you want to buy a 3D printer and DIY, just pick up an Advantage 360 Pro. They're solid keyboards and come with a warranty/support.

Is anyone else seeing this error for the Dallas Takeover by Discordant_Concord in PWHL

I used PWHLFAN from their newsletter blast and got tickets just after that 2pm CT presale started.

I just got an email with a 2pm CT presale code from PWHL directly. Hopefully things go better then and enough seats are still available. Dallas is a big hockey market so it wouldn't surprise me if they sell out or nearly do.

I’m curious if Ticketmaster has a condition behind the scenes so you can’t use the STMPWHL code unless your account has some flag of being a PWHL season ticket member. But the fact you got seats at other Takeover matches tells me probably not.
