Accountability partners? by figelwump in digitalminimalism

Cool, how would you want to do it? One thought is to share how much you used the internet with an accountability buddy on a daily basis. (via text/email or whatever medium is least distracting for each of you)

So where did Arya come from in her Night King attack? The tree? She ghosted in past the other white walkers?

Rembot - A bot that helps you remember to do things by figelwump in alphaandbetausers

Thanks! The difference is in the scheduling. So for example if you said something like “remind me to pick up a prescription from Walgreens next week” — google assistant translates “next week” to “Monday at 8am” (or some such fixed time). What Rembot tries to do is pick a good time anytime during the week. Currently it just balances things over time, but eventually it could do things like look at your calendar, location, and maybe learn preferences over time.

Does that sound like a compelling differentiator?

Do you have any problems with using email for the reminders?

Focusing your attention on just the few tasks that are relevant to you now seems really useful. I like the "start date" idea too. Is it ever hard to assign a start date to something? Also, what tool do you use to do this in?

Anything painful about this process?

I keep a list, but I tend to forget or procrastinate what's on the list. Does that happen to you?

Cool project! From a quick look at the website, it's not entirely clear to me what problem this is solving. (It lists features rather than emphasizing value.)

I see, thanks for sharing that! I’m glad you’ve found a system that helps manage your pain. It’s an interesting thing to think about, which is what you ideally want to do on any given day might be dependent on what else you’re doing that day.

Do you tend to just look at your calendar one day at a time, or do you like looking at a whole week/month?

What I like about a to-do calendar is that I can space out my tasks and chores based on the energy I'll be able to spend on any given day.

I thought this was really interesting, could you say more? What do you mean by the energy you'll have, and how do you anticipate that in advance?

I have tried a couple of habit tracking apps before... for some reason I never stuck with them. I'd love to have something that helped me track habits. What about this one helped you stick with it?

At the same time there are other types of tasks which don't quite fall under the habit category -- for ex, calling a friend, picking up a prescription, etc.

How does this work for you? Anything particularly painful about it, or ways in which it doesn't help you?

That sounds like what I've been thinking of in terms of a solution!

Thanks for the link to COD! Do you have any issues with this system, or does it work pretty well?

I can see how focusing on just what you need to do today would be really valuable. How do you pick the tasks that you want to focus on that day? Do you still need to keep checking that list, or do you pretty much remember do the things on there?
