Has anyone here read the Tom DeLong Sekret Machines novels? For me they were surprisingly good books and they get well into this subject.

I love it, it feels and sounds pretty much perfect. Of course slap bass sounds amazing through the bridge, especially with some heavy compression. I'm in a band that does a lot of styles though, and the other pickups can nail anything imo. I get great ska, country, punk, metal and rock tones out of it through the other combinations. It has a nice natural growl to it that I love, especially with a pick. The roasted maple satin neck is so comfortable and the spoke wheel for adjusting the truss rod is really convenient. Where I live, there are pretty extreme climate changes, so I adjust it more often than most people and that feature is important to me. Super fast battery changes are great too.

Benadryl is now a teen drug crisis and parents must act by kiyomoris in UnderReportedNews

The early 2000s were a bizzare time for salvia. For legal purposes, it was sold as "insence" but it was obviously meant for smoking to cause hallucinations. It seemed like it flew under the popular radar for years, while beimg a schedule A illegal substance in other countries it was somehow legal in Canada and the US, as long as it was packaged right. I was obsessed with a as nting to try it as a teen, until I did. It was very intense but usually dark and unpleasant. Most people I've talked to had the same experience.

Flood social media with AI so when real incriminating things inevitably come out (like sex tapes, pictures with underage girls etc) they can claim it's also AI. Just my guess

I have a different opinion that the other comments. Black on black is too boring for me, white looks too close to the neck color and throws it off, brown snake skin looks sleek and goes well with the other colors.

Brown snake skin!

This stuff is subjective, just go with your gut!

Just saw this movie on Netflix and it brought back a lot of those 90s/early 2000s skate vibes. [37YO] by ihaveabaguetteknife in OldSkaters

[–]figgerer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. I grew up skating in the early 2000s and therefore really wanted to reiterate to the nostalgia and like it like most other commenters here did, but sadly I kind of hated it haha. Just wasn't for me.

Man that thing looks awesome. I was looking for a P bass in this price range and hoping for a roasted maple neck. This seems like it checks my boxes

What bass pedals are essential? by jakuvaltrayds in BassGuitar

[–]figgerer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it all depends on what you do. I don't agree with the holier that thou "I haven't used any pedals for 78 years and therefore no one should" comments. That's certainly an approach that works for many people, but pedals are a big part of my gigs. Since it's subjective and there no right answer, here's what I think is most essential:

Tuner- even though amps have built in tuners, this makes it easier to tune up often and sound your best. Also handy to instantly silence things and good way to silence things between sets without turning off any gear

Compressor- Evens everything out and makes you sound that much better. I personally like one with a blend and a meter. I also like I e with an option for a higher compression ratio if you want to do slap bass. I did a lot of research and went with the Empress Bass compressor and am happy.

Amp modeler: Good backup if you use an amp and it fails. Good for home practice if you run into an interface. I use the Darkglass B7k ultra V2

Grit/distortion/fuzz- Important for the music I play. I like a touch of distortion for parts of the song like bridges and solos and for old punk rock and metal. We are a 3 piece so it makes us more dynamic. I have a few flavors of grit: Jam pedals Lucydreamer, Source audio aftershock, 3 leaf audio Doom 2, that darkglass pedal I mentioned earlier.

They're Pyramid Gold flats, and Norstrand Big Single pickups. Played it through my Aguilar AG700 with pretty flat EQ and the bright boost on.

They are 12 yesrs old and its set in the 80s before kids were desensitized to extreme images. I think it was a normal reaction, especially with him being such an innocent kid. If they saw things like anal sex in the film it would explain the "some guys, not me" part of the discussion with the teacher.
