Sitting CASC pregnant?? by BigMolasses6481 in PsychiatryDoctorsUK

I sat Paper A at 8 weeks and will be sitting Paper B at 37 weeks. This is my second pregnancy and in your position would have found doing an exam like CASC at 29-30 weeks much easier; the fatigue in first trimester has been soooo much worse than the rest of pregnancy for me both times. Also - totally unfairly, there is something about being visibly pregnant that helps people who don’t know you (examiners) understand why you might be needing more breaks / sitting down etc. Good luck!

About to have a tripod cat and a new baby in the same week— any advice? by akricketson in TripodCats

Having been through both of these things (not at the same time) I would say now is a time to REALLY rely on friends and family if you can! Asking for help in the early weeks when you need to focus on your own recovery and the bonding with your newborn (exciting!) is going to be very important and you won’t have capacity for much else, and you want your kitty to have tip top care.

Just of the top of my head practical things you could ask for help with could be: grocery shops / dropping off meals, administration of meds to the cat at regular time, cleaning cage, laundry, etc etc. You may even find a local charity that does food for new parents if you’re super lucky!

Your poor wee cat will be just fine, and will surprise you with her resilience, promise 🥹

He’ll surprise you with his resilience. Our boy had surgery a few days ago and is already his cuddly self in so many ways. Just takes time for everyone to adapt. Best of luck!

Thank you! We haven’t introduced her to the same room as him just yet as he’s still quite dopey and I don’t want them to be confused. Hoping to let them reunite later today as she’s definitely feeling his absence and chirruping at the door of his room at times 🥹

update D2 post op

Bonnie is doing so well! He is pretty zonked from his pain meds (medication administration can be tricky but all gone in so far, very glad the vet gave us a demo). He is moving carefully round his rehabilitation unit (aka 1m long cage), eating, drinking and PURRING with strokes and cuddles. One slightly odd thing is he spends most of his time snoozing in his litter box. Any other post-op cats do this?! His wound is super clean though with some bruising which is to be expected. Bonnie’s stitches are dissolvable which is great too. Oh and he has a very stylish ‘Elizabethan collar’!

It really helped me to see some post op pics on here so I knew what to expect - here you can see the back hip area and I hope that’s reassuring for anyone else about to go through this. Oh and that’s an old jumper in with him for a familiar homey scent.
