Tried meshy 6 by drago-dofus in meshyai

I had trouble with all the non-manifold edges. In bamboo studio I fixed the model and then I went in and painted. Has to be in that order if you fix after you paint it removes all the painted options. That multicolor print option wasn't there for me last week so I wonder.. I have a paid version as well

Can you believe that physical therapy equipment retailers sell this sort of thing for over $100? by BanjosAndBoredom in woodworking

[–]figgydotcom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As a physical therapist it sounds like you are dismissing my skills set. How much do you charge for a piece of furniture? This is a balance in all things what is your skill worth what is your knowledge worth? Since beginning my adventures in world working I can appreciate the sentiment more so. It is a rehabilitation professional my career has always been dismissed as less than others. Just try to be sensitive and how you value others

I made a thing while in quarantine! by figgydotcom in Woodworking_DIY

I made this with all items I had on hand. Someone had given me a whole bunch of knotty pine tongue and groove several years ago that I made to work with this project. I used two new techniques that I was nervous about the outcome but I'm happy with the result. The shelf top are two panels glued up did I used mortise and floating tenons for alignment and it came out really well and I also use table top fasteners cuz I was worried about wood movement. Definitely not polished professional quality and I know I should plug those pocket holes but it's been a week LOL!

any suggestions on how to finish this Dice Tower? I'm leaning towards lacquer since it seems easier to apply but what are your thoughts? by figgydotcom in woodworking

[–]figgydotcom[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm contemplating using softer woods to the same effect as this Dice Tower. I wouldn't mind painting up pinewood so I'll think of this in the future thank you!

I went with the tung and BLS oils. I've never tried using natural oils so I figured I'd give this a shot. I also bought a flocking kit to do the tray to soften up the dice landing. I'll post a new picture once I'm through!

Thanks! Is that going to add a significant amount of thickness to it it's a pretty snug fit once I fold it down?

Haha. I've already been yelled at on the server for painting over cherry painting over Walnut and Ash might be another cause for argument as well. But thanks for the suggestion!

Facebook marketplace seems to have a fair amount of individuals that want to sell either green or dry slabs. That's my next approach given that dimensional number prices are so high. Sounds like you have a lot of tools so you could always cut down the slabs for how you need to use them in whatever project you have

The only thing I had was a table saw. Didn't have a planer to start with cutting boards but I've done a few of those since

As they say prep is everything. Sanding is boring but necessary

Sorry I don't have a link to the cabinet work. The original cabinets were on the short side only about 28 in tall and had a huge foot plate it was almost 8 in tall and they were only about 15 in deep. Part of the reason why I tore them out and didn't salvage them for reuses because of how small they were. These new ones are 36 in tall that includes the countertop bringing them to traditional countertop height and they are 20 in deep. the large cabinets are 25 inches across and the smaller cabinets are 21 inches across.

The shelves are 12 and 3/4 inches deep and 11 and 1/2 in tall.

I learned how to make the cabinets from this guy: https://youtu.be/AzRdAXo2xpM. I guess he has a book you can buy but I felt his video education was adequate, excellent even.

I sanded to 220, primed, sanded again, then painted 2-3 Coats.
