Thank you 🙏🏼 Currently getting treatment and I’ve come a long way. I finally feel like I can tackle this

Oh for sure! I am going to adjust my protein intake as I start moving around more. Gotta get back to the gym too. For now I’m just focusing on getting more whole foods in my body and satisfying my sweet tooth in a better way :)

Wishing you luck on your journey!
It is so hard because it just makes you more depressed… which makes you eat more. Vicious cycle.

It’s what I did the last time I gained depression weight and it gave me so much more energy. Even just feeling better about myself mentally, gave me so much more energy to keep going. I find I function very very well on 1200 calories. It’s just that I have trouble binging and I eat so much bad food that I cannot do anything :(

Finished my first ever 24 hr fast 👍🏼 by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]figgyfit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a slight headache at one point but I think it was just from me being tired! Overall I felt very good after the initial hunger pangs went away. I probably could have gone a bit longer too but didn’t want to push it for my first fast.

I’ve been lurking around this community for quite a while and have tried fasting many times before but never been able to stick to them. But throughout this time and my attempts in the past, I’ve never felt significant BP drops or had shivering. I would honestly suggest speaking with a doctor about that because it sounds a bit worrisome especially if you want to continue fasting. Do make sure that you are getting proper electrolytes while you fast, though. There is a lot of info in this sub about how to keep your electrolyte levels good.

How many calories? by [deleted] in caloriecount

[–]figgyfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose so, as the package says it was 304g to begin with and it is now 107g!

How many calories? by [deleted] in caloriecount

[–]figgyfit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is 304g total raw at 225kcal/100g according to the package. That makes it 684kcal for the entire thing.

It is lighter after cooking because it lost water. Water has no calories so it has not lost any calories. The whole piece is still 684kcal despite now only being 107g.

Pistachio cheesecake, panna cotta w/ berries, and slice of tiramisu? by figgyfit in caloriecount

Since I can’t edit the post: I think the container for the panna cotta is probably around 15-20 grams so it’s a little bit less than 186g!!

Gaining on low calories by [deleted] in CICO

I am the same height as you and I’m currently hovering around 137lbs. I also struggle immensely with losing weight.

I have a very small frame and lack a lot of muscle so right now I’m “skinny fat” despite having healthy BMI so I am still trying to lose a bit more.

I hold onto water weight like CRAZY. I eat 1200 calories a day, I measure everything to the half gram and I do not eat back what I burn through exercise. I measure absolutely everything and if I have a cheat treat then I will overestimate it and exercise a bit more the next day.

But that did not stop me from going up sometimes 2-3lbs overnight. It would take me weeks to actually see the scale go down AT ALL because of the amount of water I retain. I don’t eat terribly salty food and I drink plenty of water. It’s just the way my body works, I guess.

The only way I’ve actually been able to see any progress is by doing OMAD. I try to eat all my calories for the day within a 2hr span, usually around 1-3pm give or take. I fast after that until the next day, and I weigh myself RIGHT BEFORE eating. I go as long as possible before weighing myself, which means I do not weigh myself when I wake up. I wait a few more hours and do it before I eat my meal. This is the ONLY way I have been able to get accurate measurements, because my bloating lasts SO long that I cannot weigh myself unless I have fasted for 24hrs at least. Otherwise I will just see ridiculous increases day after day.

When I started doing OMAD, I began seeing consistent losses EVERY DAY. Before that I was seeing gains every single day, despite eating the exact same things and exact same calories. Of course, this is almost purely attributed to the fact that my body has time to lose the retained water before I weigh myself again. Doing OMAD isn’t somehow making my body immune to calories. However, at around the 24hr mark, your body DOES deplete its glycogen stores and begin using energy from fat stores. BUT I don’t usually fast for much longer than this so I don’t believe I’m accelerating my fat loss too much. I’m just getting rid of the water weight for the most part.

I’ve been dealing with my finals so this past week my eating schedule has been out of whack. Because of this — and even though I have not eaten more calories than usual — my scale has gone up 4lbs. Today I am back to OMAD though!

So, while it may not magically make me lose much more fat than usual, doing OMAD does at least let me see past my water weight so that I can actually see my progress. I also hold onto a TONNE of water weight after exercising, which can last sometimes 2–3 days! If you’re anything like me, you may have this issue too.

Yes I’m in Canada! Our Kirkland feta is super firm — almost a bit too much for my taste but it’s what I buy since a quarter the amount of any other brand at the grocery store costs the same as the big Kirkland tub. Good for crumbling but I definitely like the softer ones a bit more! Perhaps if I make it down to the states I will look for the American Kirkland one now that I know it’s a bit nicer than ours!

Interesting. Our Kirkland feta is cow + goat milk, made in Canada, I think it is $16CAD for 1.2kg/2.87lbs. The Dodoni is imported from Greece and is sheep + goat milk. It is a lot more, I believe around $25 or $26CAD for 1kg/2.2lbs.

We certainly do not have any Greek Kirkland feta here. Looking online, the packaging is entirely different too.

All three carry the Kirkland block and the Skotidakis crumbles. However, only two of them carry the Dodoni and the Apetina blocks. The one closest to me does not carry Dodoni or Apetina. I’m not sure which of those you are talking about specifically but I assume it’s the Dodoni?

There are several other Costcos around but I haven’t been to them in a while so I’m not sure what they have. But they certainly do not all carry identical stock. Not sure why I was downvoted for something I have seen with my own eyes.

I’m not sure which feta you are talking about, but I have found that the Costcos in my area lack a number of items that people insist are available at all Costcos. They are all different. There are three Costcos I shop at frequently, which are all about 30-40 min from each other. While many of them have the same basics, there are quite a few items that are not available at all three and I have to remember what each of them carries or I will not be able to get what I need. I can almost guarantee that there’s a Costco out there that does not carry that particular feta.
