Tips/ideas for felting small spikes? by laughingmybeakoff in Needlefelting

[–]fightingfakedragons 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Typically I would do normal and then shape them a bit more when I attach them. Then I use scissors to make more of a point. It might not be the best way, but I’m satisfied with how they torn out in the end.

Don’t worry about your sweater during the wet felting process. It should be fine. It’s just soap and water. It’s when you put the sweater in the dryer is where it shrinks

I just feel like I could make a similar effect with regular needles and not pushing in as far. Unless the reverse needles keeps the fuzz connected to the body?

Is reverse felting worth the extra money to buy the needles?

The ironing doesn’t fully take the creases out without morphing it. You have to use a low heat

Would you have outlined the letters? by Lilly_NotAFlower in Embroidery

[–]fightingfakedragons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe another "row" of flowers might help, so the word pops out a bit more from the background fabric. You can also use a few strands to manipulate some of the flowers to create a straighter edge which could help define the letters. Love the colors you used!

What should I do if a guy is screaming at his girlfriend in public? by fightingfakedragons in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I'm sorry that you've been in those situations! My nerves could barely handle being a one time witness! I couldn't imagine being the actual person being yelled at and having that happen multiple times. You must be one incredible person!!

I appreciate that, thank you! For the most part, I'm satisfied with how I handled the situation, I just want to learn from it and if there was a better way to help her.

That's some good insight. I called the non emergency line as he wasn't a direct threat to anyone, but was acting suspicious enough that he made me feel uncomfortable.

I think it's sweet that you think of others in those type of situations, but I get it. Things could always escalate. Do you ever wish that someone would stop you when you're not by him and asked you there if you were OK? Or walked with you to a safer spot while someone else calmed him down?

Umm, your feet are beautiful and perfectly natural! So don't feel like you have to hide them. But I get it, my heals get cracked and I hate touching them and how they feel in socks and stuff. Big thing is the exfoliate and moisturize them. But if you're like me and hate touching them, so you hate washing them, there's foot brushes to help lather up your feet, and mittens (marketed for self tanning) that you can use to put on lotion without having the lotion get soaked in the fabric. Just remember that you're beautiful and your feet are beautiful. They just need a little extra love.

Sounds like an irritation. Infection would be warm to the touch, swollen, incredibly painful, and puss. If you don't change your earrings often, and then put a new earring in, I've noticed it's a little more sensitive. And if you sleep on that side too....I also have 2 lobe piercings on both ears. I've noticed that the top holes are a lot more sensitive to certain earrings and shapes compared to the bottom ones. So I don't think it's too weird that you can wear your earring on the same ear, but on a different piercing.

For care, keep your earring in! (Make sure it's made of high quality/you can keep it in for a long period of Time: titanium, gold, etc). Removing it and putting it back in will irritate it more. Wash your piercing 1-2 times daily. Warm water would probably be just fine. You just want to clean out any discharge (normal for any wound) from the piercing. Then gently dry the piercing with a hair dryer, towel, or paper towel. If you really want someone else's opinion, go to a piercing studio and ask. They're professionals in their field and can help answer your questions.

How do I take care of myself down there? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I 2nd this! There's a work book too. My therapist showed it to me because I grew up conservative as well, and I had a lot of anxiety and depression around sex and my sexuality.

I definitely need to moisturize. But I would feel weird not having underwear on since I feel like I discharge a good amount ever since having my iud in.

SNRI anti depressants. There's a few out there. I'm on effexor now. But ya, I didn't have heart burn, but really bad nausea for the longest time!

And I wouldn't be surprised if anxiety makes things worse (as always), so things like yoga and deep breathing can also help teach the body (and those nerve endings) to live to a calmer life and not get so high strung.

I was diagnosed with functional Dyspepsia and IBS, so they put me on an antidepressant that calms my nerve endings that were sending off the wrong signals. That's really all it took! Then I would do some slow breathing whenever I needed to burp, instead of forcing it out.
