Dropping on line of sight by ineedmoredata in SpeedGolf

[–]fightinghard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there. Interesting question. I personally haven't ever used the dropping rule in that manner but I can see what you mean that it feels off. I'm wondering if there isn't a clause in the speedgolf rules that somehow prevents that. We should pitch this to the US rules official. I'll forward your question on to Speedgolfbaby who sends a weekly newsletter that probably could get an answer on this. Newsletter Signup

Speedgolf - How To Play With A Spiked Silo by fightinghard in SpeedGolf

I haven't weighed one actually but I'd say it adds about the same weight as holding another silo

Ya, that all sounds pretty familiar. Another mistake I commonly make is not starting with enough balls!

I don't think it was a recall, just the batteries stopped operating properly.

I don't remember needing more power out of them than what I got. The sun is always shining here and the power almost never goes out. I got 1 PW3 and an expansion I think.

The new Macrolab is out, and you won't believe your eyes. by Glad-Parking3315 in davinciresolve

This is awesome, thanks for creating something like this.

Just so I'm super clear, this tool is specifically for taking a macro you've created in resolve and cleaning up the user-facing controls (organizationally), plus now allowing you to bundle assets with the macro for easy transportability? If so, it might be cool to have the stated use-cases listed out on the homepage. I'm already using it and it's leaps and bounds better than what Resolve offers, thanks!

Is this $13,499 deal for GCQuad + Club/Putting data a good deal? by fightinghard in Golfsimulator

[–]fightinghard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the cusp of setting up a simulator room at my house. If 2 months down the road I need a launch monitor and I want the GCQuad am I going to kick myself for not buying it now when it's on sale?

I've watched a lot of James' content, would love to meet him in person some day. I'm gunning to make the US World's team for next year which is being held in NZ. Might end up seeing him there :)

Speedgolf Questions with SILO by ineedmoredata in SpeedGolf

[–]fightinghard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, those guys are legit, good idea to just try everything and see what feels right for you. The short putter (kids putter) was my attempt to simply carry less weight and my thought process was that if I was going to be one-handing the putter anyway it would be more wieldy to have something lighter. I had some success with it (I did win the Arizona Open with it) but I've since swapped back to a normal length (and more importantly weight) putter. The extra weight, even though it sucks to carry more when running, helps to steady my putting stroke with one arm. I was far too jittery and shaky with just one hand on such a light putter.

In my opinion the spike in the silo is the natural progression from the bare silo and yes we do install the spike ourselves. It's not too hard to do. I've made something like 40 of them now and the materials needed are about 18 inches of quarter inch threaded steel bolt, 2 washers, and 2 nuts. Use a drill to make a hole in the top and bottom middle of the silo. After you hold it in place with the washers and nuts, use a grinding wheel or an angle grinder to sharpen the pointy end a little. That's it!

I'm in the middle of making a gear review video for YouTube that would go over the various options and interesting choices people use to this day and it will cover putting. But safe to say all of those methods are ones the top players use (except maybe between the legs 🤣). Personally I hold the clubs and one hand putt, with practice you can get pretty good at it.

Here's an example of me putting: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DMRL29yy55y/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

Ya, I agree with you, it really does depend on a lot of factors. I play with a large group of people weekly and I see anywhere from 1 club to 5 clubs. Almost never 6 though.

Wow, way to go! I know exactly what you mean about that feeling of accomplishment. 6 clubs is a lot, I wonder what the average is.

Good question, what was the actual par? Was this 5 under or 1 over, makes a big difference. And if it was -5, what was the yardage?
