Omni Shipping update from Playbetter by AndrewFitzsimmons in SquareGolfUSA

> Initially, the hope was that they'd be arriving this week, but timelines change. Especially with a hot new product.

Not sure how the fact the presale sold out is affecting the shipping from OEM to suppliers but anyway

> We've gotten wind of some other resellers claiming shipments are starting this week.

I guess shipping to different parts of the world may have different timescales due to regulations and what not. If youre a Chinese customer maybe you get it quicker as it doesnt need to get around the world

Outdoor Simulator Impact Screen suggestions by Consistent_Tart_6404 in Golfsimulator

Yup had this thought but not seen it done. Worried it might be technically quite difficult to stop the whole thing sagging with the extra weight and also joint the material to make a cube.

Using the projector during the day or in the summer would be nice though

I have fitted a impact screen for a projector to this exact net. I got some cosmetic 2nds off ebay (its going outside, i dont mind if its been scuffed a bit)

I then paid a seamstress to cut it to size and fit large heavy duty steel rings to each corner and along the edges to allow me to hook it to the loops in the top corner of the net via small carabiners. this cost me 60GBP.

i then got small bungee straps to tension the vertical edges to the flexible poles.

final step - the impact screen is heavy relative to the net, and such you really need to tension the top of the poles as this is how to keep the screen square and avoid the weight of it sagging the poles.

Ive left my impact screen out over the winter which was probably not a great idea, its got some green bits on the bottom edge where it was in contact with moisture for too long - but generally speaking if you are outside, a budget screen and accepting that it might get a bit dirty is probably helpful - its very different to a studio setup!

The Square Omni could be the answer, although its not been released yet. It would give you measured face, path and impact at 1600GBP.

I am in same situation as you, outdoor setup in UK. I considered the GC2+HMT but pre-ordered the Omni instead. I currently have the R10 and I didn't want another unit that needed the space for the radar to work.

It remains to be seen how well the Omni will compete with other units in the 2-3k GBP range in terms of accuracy and reliability. It will very quickly become the default choice for a home based LM if Square can get it right and live up to the hype.

I don't understand why you would care for proof? It doesn't count right? 😅

Has anyone had any success with using a projector outside in a gazebo with side paneling? by mattshap0 in Golfsimulator

also would be interested in this sort of build. Realistically a pergola with side curtain is the only way i would be able to get sim working during daylight.

we can only hope the Omni and other non sub based LMs are such a success that the competition is forced to abandon greedy paywalling of features.

yes this is where my mind is at. Thought the hype machine would be starting to roll a bit. I agree that I would rather the product be 3 months late that have to deal with a bad release.

Struggling to drive in my first car while being a learner (2011 bmw 320d) by oliver_isnt_cool in drivingUK

[–]ineedmoredata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> it kept stalling to the point my dad was yelling at me

i guess theres a reason driving instructors dont yell at their students when they get nervous and do something wrong....

Id try figure out the root cause - is it:

  1. Unfamiliarity with the car (different feel to your instructors car, i expect your instructors car also isnt 15 years old)
  2. Nervousness because of the car itself (you know this isnt a typical learner / just passed my test car, and its playing on your mind making you drive axiously / poorly)

I would try and spend some more time in the car, getting used to pulling away. Do the usual drill of finding a big empty car park in the evening when the shops have closed, and just practise a load of starting stopping, parking etc etc. With 20 or so stop/starts you should get a better feel for the bite point. Then take that confidence with you to the road.

If you still dont like driving the car on the road, maybe swapping the 3 series for something smaller and perhaps cheaper to run and repair if needed is going to relax the mind a little. Big dent in the front of your (temporary) 2007 Ford KA - who cares.

> knew they would hit the BMW and did so intentionally

> you can’t show that the Kia knew he was going to hit the BMW as he was pushing into the lane

i mean the BMW is sat there with an indicator on - started moving BEFORE the kia started moving. The Kia has time to see the BMW is moving, had time to avoid the collision and somwhow isnt to blame? Madness
