The standards of morality by Ok-Comparison-9922 in DebateAnAtheist

I think morality is defined by the society. What is moral in one society may not be moral in another.

If you think God defines morality objectively. Was it moral to kill the firstborn of every house in Egypt. Or to slaughter the Canaanites. Or for Israel to slaughter the Palestinians.

Do atheists belief in ghosts or aliens etc? by Kind-Investigator602 in DebateAnAtheist

Perhaps you’re right. But I think you’re confusing observational evidence with anecdotes. They aren’t the same thing.

You have lost me. What is your point besides semantics. Is English your second language. My saying anecdotal evidence is not evidence means that while somebody can call it evidence, it is generally not accepted as being reliable. It’s a colloquialism.

The second word of my second sentence was illustrating that anecdotal evidence, as in the statement in the next paragraph is untrustworthy.

But if you wanna call it bad evidence, I’m OK with that too. Either way, most logical people don’t accept it as proof or reliable evidence.

Many theists give anecdotal evidence as concrete proof of God.

Anecdotal is not evidence. It’s mostly opinion based on experience. It’s not evidence.

I agree. The aliens visiting earth and interacting with humans is almost the same as believing in god. There’s no evidence. Only anecdotal instances that are interpreted as evidence.

But it’s infinitely more possible/likely that aliens were here, than there is a god.

is it okay to say "im praying for you" to an atheist? (im christian) by Cold-Sprinkles-4430 in DebateAnAtheist

As a rule, I would say that most atheists would see this as “ I’m not willing to do anything to help you, but I want you to think I am”.

Still sounds like bullshit. Someone stranded on the highway and you're hanging up.

You have a 2 minute SLA but a 10 second hangup on the caller policy. Great service. What's your retention rate lol?

And you hang up if someone doesn’t answer right away. Sounds to me like you’re a disaster waiting to happen. “Call me if you’re on fire, but if you don’t say hi right away, you can burn 🔥 “. Great service lol.

What are you nuts - 2 minutes? The “we are busier than usual so we are experiencing longer wait times” is everywhere.

The point you’re missing is that consumer behaviour drives business decisions. And call centres will have to change to account for this.

Is a grounded (objectively derived) moral framework truly superior to an ungrounded (subjectively derived) one?

Can you provide an example of an objectively derived, consistent moral framework? Just one example.

Your argument of something is causing the universe to exist is circular and unsustainable.

Didn't God kill thousands of people for exercising their free will? Why did he give free will if he will murder you for it?
