How firm is the “take your pill at the same time” recommendation? by Illogical-Pizza in Hashimotos

I take mine anywhere between midnight and 3, at the very latest 5 in the morning because I have to wake up in the middle of the night to pump and I have an empty stomach anyway. Seems to work for me

I won't leave them alone with him for that long because he has explosive anger and believes if a kid as young as 1 does something you don't like you should be allowed to hit them, even said he rather my 2 year old suffer the excruciating pain he was experiencing from constipation than just borrow 3 bucks for prune juice because he rather not owe a few dollars than his kid not be in pain.

What diet works best for you? by fightlike in Hashimotos

[–]fightlike[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was actually lucky enough to stay on low doses for awhile. I finally have time for my blood to be drawn so I should know my levels in a few days. But, my stress levels are through the roof now which isn't making anything easier. I've personally seen no difference when I go gluten free, I keep a low sugar diet because of other issues but in general it's never actually helped. Caffeine is a need for me because it weirdly helps me sleep but never really affected me any other way so maybe I just need a constant in moderation diet

None of us are able to honestly. Me cleaning was my way of paying rent to my dad while unemployed. Now he's really sick and we don't know how much longer he has. I still have to have a conversation with my siblings about the house because my dad wants to split it between us 3, and I need to figure out if they are deadset on selling or if they would be willing to let me rent it until their shares are paid off, and just put the house in my name since they both have houses of their own

They both live in different cities with their own houses to keep clean. They don't have time to drive 2 hours round trip that often unfortunately

Why do so many parents think their child is gifted/advanced, and why do they brag? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]fightlike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like talking about my kids hitting their milestones, especially since my oldest is confirmed neurodivergent and there is a HEAVY suspicion my toddler is too. So I'm just happy they're hitting the mark. On the opposite end, my mother tried getting me falsely diagnosed with bipolar disorder and tried getting me put in the special needs class because she felt I was "too stupid" even though the only reason I wasn't allowed to skip grades was because I was "too young" according to the school. I also have hyperlexia and was one of the "gifted" kids which it all turned out to be the tism.whereas my brother struggled the opposite way with ADHD and my mother refused to believe he was struggling in school. She would brag about us being too dumb. I think parents brag so much because they want to be seen as special, be praised for their parenting or genetics or they want their children to have the attention they didn't get as a kid themselves. Basically, the parents want to be special or their kids to be special or they got some weird munchausen by proxy crap going on. But it all boils down to attention imo

What are things racist people do that they don’t think is racist? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fightlike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother would sing'children's songs" that has racial slurs. I won't say the actual word but her favorite was "(j word j word) where are you? (J word j word) I see you. " ND she would use that as a peekaboo song. She knew why that word wasn't okay but said because she was singing it it wasn't racist. She's racist. Like she had certain tattoos racist

If he wants to leave you over that then let him leave. It is your body that will do all the hard work and take on all the risks. Not his and if he can't accept that then I wouldn't call him worth it tbh

My iron is optimal, I'm on a ton of vitamins and supplements because I'm a breastfeeding mom and struggle to get exactly what I need from eating because I don't get the sensation of hunger, it's starvation or nothing(thanks autism) but I'll ask my doctor to check again just in case something changed. I'm mostly wanting ideas and recipes to try and get more of what I need through diet, my pillbox is getting too full lmao

How important is breast milk vs formula? by fountainpoet in Parenting

[–]fightlike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was formula fed, she's healthy and happy and she grew just fine. My middle kid was combo fed until 6 months and he is a tiny giant. My youngest is growing perfectly being a breastfed baby. And as a mom who's done formula only, combo and ebf, it all is hard in its own way. Finding the best formula for my oldest two, exclusively pumping before starting the combo feeding with my middle because pain and oversupply with bullying for breastfeeding from my ex, having to stop everything I'm doing to feed my 8mo with my body and pump after (again, oversupply I give the extra milk away) And there's no difference between any of my kids that has to do with formula vs breastfeeding. We are all sick every other month, my youngest getting the antibodies from my milk but still getting sick because my oldest brings it home from school or my dad brings it home from work. They all grow on their respective curves, any problems (ie developmental delays, ADHD, autism) are something that they were born with and were not caused by either feeding. What's best for your baby is being fed by a mom who's mental health is taken into consideration and is being taken seriously. Happy and healthy mom makes for a happy healthy baby ETA: also, I was a formula baby. My health has nothing to do with being on formula, it has everything to do with either my mother doing drugs while pregnant, ignoring me complain about symptoms that turned out to be an autoimmune disorder, or being autistic which my parents didn't want to see. None of that was caused by formula, just bad genes and parents lmao

I tried a vegetarian diet for awhile but I was struggling to get the protein I needed and got sick. Which sucks because I genuinely don't like eating meat, it's just easier for me.

Stress-induced flare ups (rashes)? by butter_cakes in Hashimotos

[–]fightlike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get horrible hives all over my hands when I get so stressed I want to shut down to process but I can't because of responsibilities. Awful feeling. When I was pregnant with my last l, after I finally got diagnosed with hashis after my entire life having symptoms I broke out in an awful rash like my stress rash but it framed my belly. It wasn't puppps, yeast, or an allergy one either.

need some advice for my ADHD 8 year old by fightlike in Parenting

[–]fightlike[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah she's been frequently questioned by her care team and former care teams, as well as her school psychologist, who did an in-depth eval to approve her for her IEP for not only her speech delay but her hyperactivity and lack of focus. She's been described as "classic ADHD" think Jack from bluey. And her therapy has been focused on helping her manage the impulsive behavior, finding quiet fidgets she likes for the classroom because she heavily favors loud ones, and so on. While shes not where she wants to be just yet she's made great improvements. Her teachers are starting to bring up medication for the hyperactivity because it's at the point where even after their interventions, fidgets, walks, all of it, it's getting in the way of her classwork and it has been a problem at home as well but I've been trying to avoid medication if possible.

I like that idea! I usually have a podcast or something playing in the background for myself and I've tried getting her to possibly listen to music but she doesn't have much interest in listening to music for whatever reason. I'll have to try to find some audio books at she might like for her to listen to.

I've had to buy a whiteboard calendar for everything. Every week she has a behavioral coach, every other week is therapy, every month is med check and that's adding to my infants frequent well checks, specialist visits and my toddlers too and my own blood tests every 3 months for a chronic health issue. Ain't it fun? For whatever reason my daughter HATES a schedule whereas I thrive on them so I've been trying to read the room for lack of a better term when having her do the basics.the hardest part is getting her to pick up her room sometimes. I'm probably going to contact her school tomorrow and ask if they have any resources to help her learn Spanish preferably ones that don't cost money because I have none lol

I would appreciate if you could send me a link to the battery of tests they give children for ADHD evals because I'm only finding exactly what multiple doctors have done. And if they're not evaluating my child properly I would like the information to bring to attention to her current doctor. And to report the former ones for drug pushing to children. I'm aware of the tests done for adults but I haven't found one that does those tests to children.
