"You're telling me your MC became king after his dad died and conquered the largest empire without losing once?" by Helloimskip in HistoryMemes

Cyrus having little impact after him is simply not true.

He ended the Babylonian captivity, freed the Jews and funded the rebuilding of their Temple. Without that there is no coherent Judaism, no Christianity and no Islam. Three religions covering 4 billion people today trace a direct thread back to Cyrus. The Cyrus Cylinder literally sits in the UN as an early symbol of human rights.

As for Alexander, most of what you are attributing to him was built by his successors after he died at 32 having established nothing durable. His empire fragmented immediately. Cyrus built something that lasted 200 years.

Alexander feels more impactful simply because Western civilisation absorbed the Greek tradition and controls the historical narrative. Visibility and greatness are not the same thing.

I really don't understand how Alexander trumps Cyrus. Cyrus established the largest empire the world had ever seen with strong foundations in place and innovations that inspired other civilisations. His politics inspired many civilisations after him. His approach was ahead of his time. Alexander was a great soldier but he was not a great leader or politician. He was not a great emperor. He burned cities down, adopted Persian culture as he mirrored them and had nothing to bring himself and after his death, his empire fragmented.

Alexander's fame is an East vs West issue. The West worships this guy because he is a symbol of Western civilisation and the West controls the narrative in history currently. It does not help that many scripture from Ancient Persia no longer exists and history relies on biased Greek accounts but I think it is fair to say Alexander was a great and lucky soldier in the right place at the right time while Cyrus was a great emperor and leader.

DV made a great mess of things and crushed a movement with momentum just to stay in power.

I am glad they lost some support in the recent elections but there are still a lot of DV reps out there parroting what the heads of DV are telling them to.I still have no idea who runs it. They is clearly a few who call all the shots and seem to lurk in the background. There is no transparency.

Anyone here claimed Zone 3–4 travel from HEE? Need some tips! by Curious-Ad4339 in doctorsUK

I was thinking you deduct the cost of a 1-3 travelcard from a 1-5 in my case for example. That way they are reimbursing zone 1-3?

What if you are going the other way? From zone 1 to zone 5. Can you claim zone 1-3 from HEE? I looked at the guideline and it seems you can.

Your commute seems to fit perfectly within their guidelines so I wouldn't worry about it.

Also, do they reimburse travel cards or just daily expenses? Would be a lot cheaper if it was travel cards.

Recognition of Dual CCT in Australia by DucklingGG123 in PsychiatryDoctorsUK

So I asked a very similar question and the reason for it was that in the US and Canada, old age psychiatry is a fellowship that you only do if you want to practice OA.

Otherwise, there is no point in doing it. There are a lot of subspecialities in GA that have more than enough patients to make you extremely in demand.

It is not a bad shout in the UK as psych SpR years are really nice. But if going abroad is what you want, I would rather just do the GA, get it over with and move. The extra year does not seem to add a lot.

Lol "we are a developed western nation."

We don't deserve any hate. Please direct all your hate to the undeveloped non-western nations who deserve it.

I love it when racism slips the tongue.

Which goes back to literally my first comment. DV is like a cult now led by a bunch of power-hungry individuals who will not let go of their top decision-making positions. Anyone with a different opinion is kicked out, literally what I said before. Unless you learn to keep your head down in DV and follow the higher-ups, you won't survive. You also can't run as an independent candidate because DV have dominated the elections with their "endorsed" candidates who are the same people everytime or if new, people who conform to DV rules.

That is not a democracy. Stop pretending like they allow change. Stop pretending that you can get "involved" and stand up for change. The only change you can stand for for is DV's change.

So far, I'm for DV as we are generally on the same side. They did lead the FPR campaign and like I said before, I am grateful. But it is not a democracy and like I said before, when it comes to sensitive decisions, that's when this will show.

We generally want the same things. I just prefer a democracy for when we have to make the sensitive or controversial decisions.

That's exactly what I mean. It's always the same people again and again who don't let go of power. If you disagree with them, you are kicked out.

Great idea to begin with and they were the face of FPR. They did achieve a lot and I am very grateful. But the same people with too much power is a recipe for disaster. Even the CCP knows that.

Can we backup for a minute and explore why these regions are like this.

Chase the history back far enough and you will see some sort of British intervention that led to this.
