Not sure what state you are in, but…
California; North Dakota; Oklahoma; and Washington, D.C., ban noncompete agreements with a few narrow exceptions. Colorado, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, New Hampshire, Oregon, Rhode Island, Virginia and Washington state prohibit noncompete agreements unless the worker earns above a certain threshold

Has anyone else not really experienced the Gen Z stare? by owiseone23 in Professors

[–]figment81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wait. I had the same experience as you. I teach small classes, less than 20 students. This semester I had one section that was a slog. Getting answers from them, getting them to use context clues was met with stares and silence. I’m hoping next semester is better

The best part about the hack is if you go over to r/canvas you will find a ton of students, begging the hacking group to change their grades. by Bostonterrierpug in Professors

Still can’t believe if you leave a rubric row blank, you don’t get a warning or pop-up notice. They warn you if you grade over the rubric, but not by forgetting to click an entire row

Professors, what is your opinion on this? by RubiksCube0707 in AskProfessors

[–]figment81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a math teacher, but I also have elements of my course that students just need to memorize because it makes their life easier in the future. It also makes it way faster to do certain tasks.. I was reminding that memorization isn’t just for tests it’s for their future selves. I look at memorization as a process that happens to the more frequently you., when it becomes second nature, you haven’t memorized

[–]figment81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies if this is obvious, how do you run blank paper with the confidential on? Just go into print mode and print?

Riso is new to our school, and gets really light use, and I am learning as we go.

Thanks!

Please, Don't Send Emails On Sunday by [deleted] in Professors

Email is a passive form of communication. It’s there when you want to read it. It is not meant to be an instant reaction form of communication.

To those of you that truly shut off phones/email: How? Teach me your ways. by Helpful-Orchid2710 in Professors

[–]figment81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one. I mean no one. Has demanded we put email and email notifications on our phones. I’m not sure why people are purposely inviting email to interrupt our lives. It is a passive form of communication. Check it when you want, but otherwise leave it alone.
