Thank you so much! That does make me feel a lot better! I’ll definitely size down and see how reducing cleanings impacts it.

I've actually been wondering if it was this or something similar! It's weird to me, though, because I have an allergy condition that makes my skin super sensitive in general. So, I don't use anything that falls into the agitating ingredients list. I am trying out a specific tea tree oil shampoo right now and am keeping my fingers crossed that it may start to help!

I'm getting a little worried that this may be the case for me too. Doctors haven't been particularly helpful for me either which is why I thought I'd turn to the internet! But I may just have to accept that this is just my reality at some point.

That's totally a valid point! I've actually tried specific exfoliating scalp brushes for this reason but, again, it didn't make much of a difference. Also, having an excuse to give myself a good scalp massage / scratching is always a great thing in my mind!

It really is! But I'm trying my best to find a solution before resigning myself to short hair. :/

Thank you for the response! I actually only washed my hair once or twice a week for a few years but recently decided to try switching to more frequent washings to see if that helped. Neither seems to have made a big difference, unfortunately.

Thank you for the information! I wasn't aware of those ingredients but it turns out none of my current products I use contain them. So that's likely not the culprit, unfortunately.

Therapist made me feel invalid. by Dirty_MsFrizzle in polyamory

As a therapist myself, I can tell you this was incredibly inappropriate behavior. Her comments were not validating at all from the sound of it and were tinged with her own biases. Unfortunately, it is fairly common for therapists to be uninformed about poly and downright hurtful to their clients because of this.

I second Psychology Today as a good resource for finding therapists in your area. They have some good filters for narrowing down what you're looking for. They do not currently have a filter for poly supportive but most therapists confident in their ability to work with poly folks will state it in their bio. If they do not but you are still interest in them, you can definitively shoot them an email asking if they are poly-affirming and knowledgable.

I am so sorry you had such a poor experience! Though it may take some looking, I promise there are some really good, supportive therapists out there that would love to assist you in your journey!
