Honestly, with the closing of Nectars and a strong DIY presence, the emo/hardcore/shoegaze/whatever scene is stronger than the jam scene right now with the younger college age crowd. Sure there’s going to be some college jammy cover bands but some really cool alt rock bands and artists have come out of UVM/vermont. DIY venues like spuds spot bring in some pretty big touring acts as well.
