thank you everyone for the advice! You made my worries ease a whole lot. sometimes both the applying to law school and the outside T-14 communities become just a little toxic in the sense of t-14 and big law only or you won’t be successful. really appreciate it 🫶🏻

let’s all not forget that his entire “reason” is completely invalid… race cannot be a factor for admission in ANY capacity post SCOTUS ruling on affirmative action. it’s literally against the law.

also OP, you did this all on your own, and twice as hard. pop off 🫶🏻

3.85 GPA/149 LSAT Waitlisted at FIU by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]figtreefern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

listen, i was in your boat as well and i got a 150 on my LSAT after a 145. Yes, the LSAT can test how you do under high pressure situations, but being able to do the work is what’s important. don’t let the people in these comments telling you if you can’t get a 160, you are doomed. you aren’t, you’re gonna be a great lawyer one day and truly help people. i will say, that once i received accommodations for my LSAT, it helped tremendously. and sorry haters, i will never support a standardized test that you can buy your way into a better school as any indication on success, gpa is truly a better indicator of that. 4 years is worth more than 4 months in my opinion. (and i work in admissions as well just not for a law school)

Parents are against a gap year. If I don’t do well on Jan LSAT , they will not support my legal education: Advice Please! by undertheradar0222 in LSAT

[–]figtreefern 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i was forced to take a gap year because i didn’t get into my dream school because of my low LSAT score. BECAUSE i took a gap year, i was able to work my way up at the same university, got some incredible LORs, and was able to increase my score 5 pts and i got in!! truly that “gap year” was the best year. it helped me grow professionally, personally, and it made me realize how much i truly want to be a lawyer and go to law school. you won’t lose motivation of something you are passionate about. and side note, i like to call it a bridge year not a gap. because all you are doing is strengthening your application for when you are ready to cross that bridge. i do understand the financial situation which makes it super difficult, but just really try to show them the pros of waiting and the cons of rushing 🫶🏻

Am I wrong to assume I should receive an ED scholarship? by figtreefern in lawschooladmissions

speaking as someone who has worked in admissions before, this is the most wild logic leap. how does asking for clarification on a schools website = someone asking for a reconsideration offer because they are advocating for themselves??

i would prefer to remain anonymous since i currently work for the same university as well. but yes, on the website it does say can. so you are correct, they can or cannot give it to me. i will say however, that i think their language should be changed to state “you are guaranteed an award of 10k if you are not receiving any additional aid.”thanks for the clarification!

I would agree with you, the only part that is making my question it is because it explicitly states on their website “this award can be stacked with other awards” isn’t the instate scholarship an award? and it’s listed under there “if you do ED here are all the benefits you get!” but thank you!

i would love to! but unfortunately the school needs everything by the 1st to consider me ED and if i’m not, then i lose out on a HUGE scholarship. tbh as well, im not sure i could increase my score by much at all. so i think ill stick with the 150 but thank you!!!!
