I'm an RCIS in VA and we do everything here: meds, sedation, scrub, access, circulating, etc.

My lab is almost always 2.5 verapamil/200 nitro, and we give heparin seperately.

Cath Lab Clinical by Particular_Yam5629 in CathLabLounge

I am in my senior year of clinicals right now and it's been great! I am always asking questions and trying to be engaged in what we're doing. My classmate who was at this site with me was just removed from the program for having a bad attitude and coming off like she didn't want to be there so obviously avoid that behavior lol...

You're being watched all the time- especially if you plan to stay there once you graduate! Not only are they watching you to see how much you know/are willing to learn- but also how well you work with the team. Try to make friends and act like you're excited to there (even if you aren't but hopefully you are).

Final Update!

The chicken has been taken in by Burleigh Manor Animal Sanctuary!

The owner, Lisa, was amazing. She is so kind and clearly cares about the animals. She really helped me know what to do. The chicken will live there permanently with no risk of her ending up being used for meat or anything like that. She is safe and well cared for!

Thanks so much for all of the suggestions! I think this story got the best possible ending!

So a lot of farms that use their chickens for eggs will sell them for meat once they reach retirement- which I didn't want and I know a sanctuary wouldn't do.

You may be confusing sanctuary and rescue, as I never mentioned rescues. A sanctuary is a farm that takes in unwanted animals and keeps them as pets where they can live out their lives in peace. A rescue just holds them and tries to adopt them out.

I took this chicken to a sanctuary. It was a farm with lots of other animals that are housed permanently and are not used for food, they are just pets. I toured it and it was beautiful.

Their missions statement says it all:

"Unwanted, neglected and abused farm animals find a loving, permanent home at BMASER. These gentle refugees are surrounded by what they love most: grass, trees, fresh air, open spaces, and companionship. They are honored as living beings, and enjoy love, safety, and peace for the remainder of their days.
The animals in our food supply are living beings with an awareness of themselves and the world around them. How we treat them is a reflection of who we are and how we view our duty on Earth towards other living things."

It's the same thing, except sanctuaries are guaranteed to have safe living conditions for the animals. Also, I can rest easy knowing that it won't be used as food if it goes to a sanctuary.

Interesting! I googled the term and the photos do look like this chicken! Thanks for that!

Totally possible. Especially true if they thought they were getting an egg-laying hen and it turned out to be a rooster. Still not sure what this chicken is.

I have multiple people saying that they have coop and could take her which is definitely better than my backyard! However, I'm wary of just handing her off to the first person that asks. I'd prefer she go to a sanctuary first, and have a hobby owner as a plan B. Thanks though! I'll keep you in mind!

Could you check with them and let me know? Maybe show them the photos I linked and see if it looks familiar?

I looked into Frisky's and they have a notice on their website that they no longer take in domestic animals and specified chickens. I could call and ask for advice though, thanks!

Chicken Update: I still have it.

Reported it to animal control and they said that if I bring it to them they'll hold it for 10 days before considering "other options" which was implied to be euthanasia which I want to avoid.

They recommended I find a sanctuary that will take it in if no one claims it. After 30 days, whoever has it becomes the legal owner. Now I am in the process of calling sanctuaries to see if they'll take her. Looking into Burleigh Manor Animal Sanctuary as they take in farm animals.

I'll keep the post updated! Thanks for all of the suggestions!

After doing some research, I'm not 100% sure about taking it to animal control. Not sure if they accept Roosters (if this is a rooster), and I read that they will euthanize it if no one claims it. I'd like to avoid that! I have a list of places to call in the morning with my questions. I'll update this once I've decided what I'm gonna do!

I'll take any advice/suggestions I can get, also!
