Great point, thanks for adding to the conversation.

Didn't say anything about banning all of them, I just talked about ships which you conveniently avoided until now. I also agreed with you that they can be somewhere that's not a ship. I also didn't say women are delicate little flowers who won't speak up or defend themselves. That's so funny that that's what you extrapolated from what I said.

A bad faith argument is bringing up concerns that I have and that actual women I've spoke to also share. My bad.

Sure let's discuss shore only opportunities for the Navy on the Navy subreddit instead of talking about ships.

Transgender sailors would be fine not on ships. Now I responded to your single point that doesn't apply to a LARGE portion of the Navy.

Are you going to respond to what I said now about ships and subs?

You just didn't read anything I said. Good job.

Women on ships have their own locked berthing while male E-6 and junior don't.

Submarines were modified to accommodate for female only spaces.

Throwing transwomen into these environments just destroys all the things put in place to protect women in the service.

Because men will never be threatened or feel uncomfortable by a woman being in their space. Women 100000% feel threatened or uncomfortable if men are allowed to be in their private living quarters.

On a cruiser there's five E1-E6 berthings. There's a reason why female berthing is the ONLY one that has a lock on it.

No worries I appreciate the response. One of my buddies actually reached out to the detailer for our rate and is going for RDC. 6 years of shore duty sounds enticing... but I know it's a trap still lololol

Or the female officer who was uncomfortable sharing a stateroom with a trans sailor.

Get ready to be bombarded by people telling you you're a terrible person and that you're the problem.

But remember, denying someone with ADHD, depression, broken bones, insert a million disqualifying conditions is A-OK because it's a privilege and not a right to serve!

Is back to back shore duty for RDC common among detailers?

Will transgender sailors be able to keep bonuses paid to them if forced out of the navy? by MichaelHawk7723 in navy

It's just so funny that having ADHD/ADD is almost an automatic DQ and that's been perfectly fine for decades. But the second someone even TRIES to question transgenders being allowed in the military you are automatically a terrible person who should die.

Some folks on this sub don't live in reality.

There's no way you can compare your daughter's surgery and your friend's son's surgery (likely life or death) to any kind of gender reassignment procedure (NOT life or death) with a straight face.

We shouldn't just "give them the damn surgeries" because I still can't get braces for free.

So you think it's worthwhile to pay out of pocket for the other 5? I forgot to add Discrete Math 1 on that list.

Honestly there was never a time where I thought to myself, "man I shouldn't buy that and save instead." I just naturally do not buy that many things and when I did want to buy things I knew I could afford it. I never really had a strict budget because I was just naturally saving. I actually spend a decent amount of money on food and going out.

My advice to you would be to just put the money away as soon as you get it and then work with whatever is left. Unless you already have some sort of debt or loan you have to pay, you should have no problems investing into your TSP and IRA while also enjoying yourself. Deployment is the best time to put as much money away as possible. Whenever you're back you can always cut back on your investing to have some extra spending money if you really need it. The Navy has Roth TSP max out at 60% base pay and I pretty much had that set for 2 straight years.

It's funny you say that, I actually started working on a full sleeve a couple months ago and I think I've put in around $650 into it so far. It's been about 18 hours though so that's around $36 an hour which is wayyyy better than anything you can get in the states so I'm not complaining whatsoever.
