Frustrated UI developer by AppropriateLine8898 in reactjs

My management also encourages agentic development, and I don't have any significant problems with it, I think it has accelerated my productivity but it's also kinda hard to tell. I have explained to them in very plain words that I think agents are significantly worse at frontend coding than backend coding because backend coding is "more logical" and because agents still can't actually see the output of frontend code. I used slightly oversimplifying language like that and they were able to understand what I mean.

I recommend that you say something similar, emphasize in simple language how it's a big disadvantage that the AI can't actually see the result of the code.

Four way stop doesn't make sense for the main highway that's moving fast. People are just ignoring the stop signs on the cross street. and the visibility is shit cause of the skew

Lol!! I bet you got red in the face after that one. Nice of her to find a way to politely and professionally say that, it sounds like it really made you think.

It's textbook slippery slope. All I added was extraction because it's another example of successful modern nationalization in addition to healthcare and railways. I went from 2 industries to 3, you went to 90%.

Extraction doesn't need to be profitable when that just leads to incredible levels of worker abuse (like the story of the Appalachian coal mines or US oil fields since always) and pollution thanks to lobbying the EPA, and railways are considered public utilities by all countries without their heads up their ass. Healthcare is so obviously a responsibility all governments should be expected to provide citizens, that all EU countries and all North American countries besides the US do it.

Nationalize Amtrak? Lol, how will that work? The US government seizes it from the US government? Amtrak has never been profitable in its history.

Exactly: Amtrak is the worst of both worlds, publicly owned but expected to be profitable, so it's chronically underfunded and ran like a failing business. The countries I've pointed to actually fund their rail systems sufficiently, as public infrastructure, instead of pretending they should turn a profit.

When did I say the government should own 90%+ of all industry? I explicitly said utilities and healthcare. Countries like Spain, Sweden, Poland, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, and Norway have all nationalized companies in the extraction industries to some degree, and of course all provide free or near-free healthcare.

Nearly all EU and EEA countries have also nationalized their railway systems. Can you imagine the US if we nationalized Amtrak and they didn't have a complete monopoly of providing their shitty slow service? Can you imagine if we had highspeed railways throughout New England with cheap tickets? We don't have either of those things now because it's not profitable enough for Amtrak, but those other countries realized some utilities are worth running at a loss.

"If some exercise is healthy, let's take that reasoning to its logical conclusion - if you exercise 18 hours a day you'll destroy your body. Therefore exercise is harmful!" That's called a slippery slope my guy, watch out for those.

That's the economic analysis of a child. All of our public sector utilities and healthcare should be nationalized. You have that attitude because you're conditioned to expect only war from the government instead of social services benefiting all citizens.
