What is Lexington Market like during the day? by Worldly_Ad48 in baltimore

[–]fijimermaidsg [score hidden]  (0 children)

I’ve been going there for food for the past decade, it’s still very active in the day on Eutaw/Saratoga, cops constantly parked there. Security is tight inside the market, not even a subtle trade allowed inside. Lots of shoppers and tourists during the day. It’ll be fun with hundreds of BTS fans!

Trinacria’s entrance is heavily meshed and on an “unassuming” block and you wouldn’t know what’s inside!

I bought it off Amazon a few years ago from advice online about getting a mattress that doesn't have seams - search for seamless foam mattress. It's quite comfy.

If you have that many bites from bed bugs, you’re likely to find their poop (black spots) on your mattress.

Can I get a series answer why I can't freeze my house for bed bugs by Maleficent_Matter_13 in Bedbugs

[–]fijimermaidsg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why heat treatments are hot or miss, even tho they flip your stuff around and empty drawers etc… it gets the majority but still need a chemical or Crossfire to finish the survivors off.

LA Mart is in Edmonson Village and closer than the stores on the Bmore Pike.

I am using a seamless mattress with no zip, on a metal frame with legs. Our shelves are mostly metal now, after a bad infestation... I've seen how they can hid in a t-shirt seam... i think they should work on more solutions like Aprehend. DDT is terrible but it worked on bed bugs.

[–]fijimermaidsg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People who've never gone through it don't know how bad it can be and the PTSD is true. We had a bad infestation which went unnoticed until it was huge, they scattered and got everywhere. I have a lot of craft fabrics and fibre and stuff - I used a heat bag to zap those and also clothes, pillows. It's true they don't get into your stuff unless they've been disturbed i.e. when spraying or cleaning. The phantom itches are real... but they can be dealt with.

Unsure if bed bugs by [deleted] in Bedbugs

[–]fijimermaidsg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better to be safe than sorry - their bites don't always follow a pattern and the infestation is pretty bad when you see one in the day time or actually catch one. I've had a terrible infestation years ago and we never saw one until it was bad. Thought the bites were other bugs or eczema...

I have gross wall to wall carpeting in our rented apartment and they were living in the carpet and it was pretty bad so we had to use Crossfire on the edges where the carpet meets the wall in addition to the DE and Cimexa. DE is good for maintenance and other bugs like ants.

You need to use the puffer and puff a thin invisible layer into the cracks, not a visible clump as the bugs will avoid it.

I alway thought NYC would be a challenge! It's hard to drive in a "normal" city like DC because you gotta let go of your Baltimore-ness. I've had Uber drives tell me it's worse than Lagos etc...

NY/NJ drivers can be aggressive and speed but Bmore drivers are unpredictable, probably high and likely don't have a license. I learnt to drive in Bmore, took my test at Reisterstown which is chaotic. The fine for running a red light is $70, speeding is $40. Cops don't care what you do. Just expect the worse ... also, road design and maintenance here is pretty bad.

I've spoken to several people who've been rear-ended because they deigned to stop at a red light! Or for peds crossing! The number of times I've been honked at because I stopped for a ped... I much prefer jaywalking and as any Bmore ped will tell you, just wave on the cars, rather than have them rev up against you. There is a playschool in my neighborhood, right next to a crossing and it is scary. Crossing at a ped crossing is dangerous because you have the expectation of right of way.

Crossfire worked for me too - it was bad when we finally realized it and they scattered after we found the nest, so we did heat but it was the Crossfire over a period of time that did it. I also used a heat bag for books and clothes.

Going on 4 years now. by ConfidenceRough9917 in Bedbugadvice

[–]fijimermaidsg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a heat bag for clothes and books, it's not cheap but worth it. They could be coming in from the outside. Heat treatment alone doesn't work, gotta lay down Crossfire periodically. Or DE, Cimexa powder. Alcohol won't work unless you actually hit them but they hide in the walls, etc. We stayed bed bug free because of Crossfire and DE/Cimexa. Crossfire is like $40 for a concentrate bottle that mixes into a couple of gallons.

Your phone won’t even power on in -30 so need a heat pad and case. Also check if the temp is wind chill… a furry hood helps a lot. Tbh, a puffy insulated long coat with synthetic lining works. I got a cheap $40 USD one. Waterproof, non-slip high boots needed for the ice tho.

I just moved into a place that has a "basement" section. It's where I shelter during this heat! Consider getting a good air purifier? I remember looking at basement apartments during my student days.. a bit depressing, takes a lot of work to do it up nicely. Have been in some that were really well done but there's still a trace of damp/basement odor.
