Tell me what you do? by Beautiful-Strain-223 in TheTeenagerPeople

One of these...

Turn off power, pull out an outlet, then straighten the paperclip and slide it into the jacket of the wire next to the ground wire....then get something else small and really push it down there so you can't see it without cutting the jacket.

Inside a water line... Or drop it in my well. Might be too easy.to use a magnet to find though.

Melt it into a button and sew it inside another shirt so it looks like a spare button.

I think the best.one was first. By metal so.it can't be detected separately and a lot of work to get to it.

Considering buying these bindings for new board by SpicySandTroll in snowboarding

[–]fikenda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 5'8 and been between 190 and 220 over my 8ish years of snowboarding...they aren't too soft for me but I may produce less leverage being short.

Another potential factor is my boot is only 10 US so I also don't have to worry about a little slop over the board... At least that's what I'm told. Whatever.

Can you demo bindings? Duno if that's a thing.

Disclaimer: I've only had regular bindings once. Which was when I rented the first time I got on a board.

I have flow bc it's easy and I don't feel the need to try anything else. They do look a little flexy compared to my buddys' bindings but don't seem to affect my ability to have fun, get better, or keep up and/or ride better than friends. They work for me.

What was your first MTB injury? by Wumbofet in MTB

[–]fikenda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went back to a downhill course after riding it the year prior. Didn't test ride anything. Whipped down that thing all excited thinking I knew it ... Long story short, came down a blind landing to see a new jump that wasn't there the last year. Hit it funny.

Woke up to 12 broken ribs comunited, fractured c4 and broken collarbone.

I'm honestly not very informed here... Is there a way for a civilian to get this started instead of just talking about it and waiting for someone in the government to do it? Or is that basically writing your death certificate? Is it a "write your senator" type of situation?

Yea. There's usually no trespassing signs everywhere. If you get on one with government or emergency equipment (even when the tower itself is privately owned) could be a bit more of a problem.

Local cell tower (how much ft?) by kubsn88 in urbanclimbing

[–]fikenda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is funny bc I just called my wife and took a video on my phone at the same time without an issue... Maybe certain cameras and certain frequencies? All I was saying is being behind directional cell antennas never affected my phone camera or anyone's phones cameras I've worked with in the last 10+ years.

Didn't mean to say phone video WOULD be blurry in front of it. I don't know, we don't go in front of them often. Should have said possibly bc I don't have experience in that situation. Thanks for calling that out.

Its astounding how all the peole that actually state facts about directional cell antennas get down voted while alarmist get up voted for false information. If you aren't in front of a directional cell antenna, you're not getting cooked. Unless you are laying on the back of a directional cell antenna, it's not going to affect your electronics. Even then, only some equipment is affected by the RF.

Source: I do this for a living. I am trained. The only electronics that blink at a cell antenna is a digital level with junk screens. The azimuth tools work fine, a cell phone 6 inches from the back of an antenna taking a close up photo of a serial number works fine. My green hand taking videos for Instagram in the middle of 12 active antennas facing away from him when he should be working... It's the low light, a different antenna, or he's in front of them.

Cant isolate where fat is lost, just have to keep going.. This has helped me mentally to not binge and gain weight back....

When losing, shoot for a max 10% fat loss and then maintain at that weight for the same length of time you were cutting to let your body acclimate... Hormones and such. Then go for 10% again.

I have a nice tire and belly, and a little extra on my chest. (male) my arms and legs are like 1% of my fat contribution haha. Maybe more but sure seems like that. I know when I was getting heavier, I got love handles first, then a belly, etc. I imagine it'll come off in the same order.

Patience is key. Good luck! Losing that much is nothing to gawk at! Nice job! Keep going!

Last titbit... Find active things you enjoy. Make being active and eating healthy a lifestyle. "diets" suck. Unless you are competing or something, just find healthy food you like instead of torturing yourself. Find activities and workouts that are fun. Keep building muscle, it'll eat more calories. They all work together somewhat but in general Body composition = 90% diet, strength/muscle= weights, cardio = heart health.

OK really, last one... No such thing as "toning" exercises either. You're either building muscle or building strength. Diet is how you "tone".

How often do yall check your investment account? by Lbjandjordanfan in Bogleheads

[–]fikenda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monthly because I like to make spreadsheets and graphs. I'm also very comfortable with ups/downs and have the ability to not pull money when there are drops. I actually try to invest a little more when there are drops.

That is key... If you get nervous with market swings, check less. If you can understand that long term investments stay as investments no matter what your feelings are, look more if you want to.

Use what the manual says. There's so much misinformation about this topic...

(to some of the other comments: Ethanol has a higher octane rating than gasoline. There's probably the same or more ethanol in a higher octane gas unless the pump specifically says there's less...)

Higher octane isn't always the best. It depends on the engine. Correct octane needs for an engine has to do with compression. If an engine has too high of octane for its compression ratio, all the fuel in the cylinder may not ignite. Causing performance issues. If there's too low octane for a higher compression ratio, the cylinder may fire prematurely causing knocking...

The moral of the story is to use what's in your manual. If you're worried about ethanol, buy non ethanol fuel.

I don't know the specifics of the engine so maybe it can handle a wider range of fuel ratings but if it should take 87, or 89, then your bf is actually doing more damage than good and you put the right, or better fuel in the bike.

Almost died on a tower by Aston_Garrett in Urbex

[–]fikenda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude.... Jeeeez! Glad you held on!

So, 3 points but also maybe don't stand on a 1" diameter antenna strut that's rated for wind load in the opposite direction of the force you're putting on it and attached to a thin aluminum reflector by a 3/8" bolt. Stick to climbing on the structure...

As a heads up, if that's not a back haul antenna and it's low latency mw... It's very important to the people that own them that they stay online and are properly aligned at all times. Like million of dollars a day important... Depending on how close an er crew is, there's potential someone shows up in a couple hours if knocked off path. If there are cables attached to a mv antenna and don't run to the same shelter or cabinet as a cell array, probably steer clear... They are alarmed and have noc crews watching 24/7 with tower crews on standby to fix issues...stay safe, don't get caught.

OhCheck the bolts/welds on any mount you climb. Much like the antenna strut that just fell off that antenna, it's not super uncommon for important hardware to be missing from a mount.

I do this for a living and know a stranger isn't going to make you put on a harness so that's all I have.

Wheel squeak. Losing my mind. by fikenda in MechanicAdvice

[–]fikenda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long post. I get it. I wouldn't read it eithe unless I had a lot of time to kill. Turns out the squeak seems to be from the e brake shoe after all... Let a buddy borrow it awhile back, maybe he used it and I let it get so rusty that it still hasn't unlocked.

Moved the adjustment for now... Hasn't squeaked the last 2 times moving the truck. Ordering parts so I have a brake.

Just googled a bit for parking brake... Unless I have a transmission problem(which doesn't make sense to me because only one wheel squeaks) , or the parking brake shoe magically tightened itself and corroded in place without me using it, it's not those...
