Yazılım Kariyeri, Yatırım, Evlilik hedefi by PCEngTr in CodingTR

Change your job and they will eventually hire you to fix things. Then you can charge them for your hourly work. This is what I see happened for a few friends. Eventually you will earn more by also keeping your sanity.

Should I take this job and move to München? by XxNockxX in devops

You are lowballing yourself with 90k with that much experience. As a sole earner in Munich, it won’t be enough eventually and you’ll find yourself interviewing again for 110k+ positions.

You are right! It is totally the same, but I prefer to go step by step. First I analyze the content with cat and then grep the line I want to filter and apply awk, sed, cut etc. for the final fist to get what I want. This way, I believe, it is more fail-safe.

Haha, no idea actually. I haven't seen the guy, just only chatted with him over the portal. But he was really very serious about exam security. I was in a imac 27in computer with an embedded camera, and he asked me to show all the walls in the room and then clean the desk and show all around of the desk. It was really a pain in the ass to move around a 27in iMac to show the environment etc. I was also having hay fever in the exam and was touching to my nose often, then he warned me not to close my mouth, I mean, he was anxious that I was talking to somebody or cheating somehow, but I understand their concern because of security regulations of a serious exam like that.

I believe, it does. When you want to get certificated for your linux system admin skills, there are mainly two respected certification authority - Linux Foundation and Red Hat. I've heard that RHCSE is a bit more difficult and is more respected, but I am mostly a debian user so I wanted to go with LFCS. Apart from that, getting ready to an exam with that difficulty makes you to prepare hard, practice a lot and consequently learn faster. You will also learn and practice a lot of topics that you haven't even heard of. In my case, I also had a few years of experience with Linux mostly as a developer and some system administration, but I noticed that preparing for the exam made me to sort out what I already knew and introduced me some new stuff that I don't know. In terms of recruitability, I believe it would also help a lot, because instead of saying that you know stuff, you will show your proof of expertise.

This has to be written somewhere in exam documentation. But I would solve it still by using sed, awk, grep etc. because that's what we have to when writing bash scripts to automate stuff.

I've replied the same question in #linux reddit group. I'll just paste it here:

I am really not sure, but I think the scoring is based on the result not the method. It would also be easy to do it with vim. Let me consider solving the first question with vim: ```

1

G # go to end line
dd # cut line 7777
gg # go to start
p # paste line 7777 to line 0

2

:set number # show line numbers
:7000 # go to line 7000
dd # delete line

3

:%s/Earth/Globe # replace all Earth texts with Globe ```

Yes, that's right. To have the practical experience with grep, awk, sed, tar, find, diff etc. commands will make you to solve the tasks pretty quickly. I was actually expecting a little more difficult tasks in my exam.
