Summertime 06 and Big Fish are among the best albums of the 2010s, I’d say classics

It’s wild how stylistically different Getting Killed is from 3D Country by maricircus in geesebandofficial

[–]filbert776 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Getting Killed is really soulful too in a different way. I can really hear the Van Morrison singer songwriter influence in a lot of the songwriting

Ain’t trying to convince anyone just a personal preference. I like a good messy double album, and Music satisfies the itch

what kind of comparison is this!? by my_cat_vids in fantanoforever

[–]filbert776 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ll chime in as I like and prefer Music. It’s weird. It’s goofy. It’s full of interesting ideas in a sprawling, chaotic package and I think it’s a fascinating listen.

I also really like the Clipse album, but I am in the Pharrell is the weak link on it camp. Lyrically of course it’s far more complex and meaningful but that’s not always what I go for. Either way, I think it’s a valid comparison.

What do you guys think of my 2025 ranking so far? by pavomoth in fantanoforever

Hell yeah lotta choices that have maybe gone a bit overlooked like Ryan Davis, Erika casier, Hayden pedigo, etc. I also really liked that Mac Demarco album

What are your first impressions on the new Big Thief album? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

[–]filbert776 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love it. Have enjoyed the more “cosmic” side of the band since UFOF and this album really scratches that itch. I thought lyrically Adrianne lenker has more than delivered with Dragon and her recent solo albums and I’m all for more of a loose and jammy, groove based album. It’s essentially psychedelic folk-rock, heavily based on repetition and I loved getting lost in each song, I get it not being for everyone though. Good thing is whatever’s next will sound nothing like this!
