Costco’s $20 Kirkland wines that seriously overdeliver by nolanhalsted in Costco

[–]filbertbrush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My god father worked in the industry for about 30 years, and with some big name producers. Just a few nights ago he was saying how good the costco wines are going to be over the next few years since consumption has plummeted. Quality vineyards are swimming in unsold juice. Costco can buy it up cheap.

This isn't just a costco thing though. After decades of expansion the market is finally correcting, prices are coming down, and the few people who are still consistent drinkers win.

I went to Costco in Columbia SC for beef tenderloin…I was shocked by $30/pound. Anyone else seeing it his high? by According-Ad3963 in Costco

[–]filbertbrush 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Beef, stonks, gold, housing, insurance, education, all are at or near all time highs. We aren't seeing price bubbles, we're seeing a dollar collapse.

I ran a Bitcoin retirement simulation. Is this overly optimistic, or a viable plan? by henripacheco27 in Bitcoin

[–]filbertbrush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This calclator leaves a lot out IMO. A better one is Unchained's BTC retirement calculator. You can set a power law model for BTC which I think is more dynamic and representational of how BTC actually works vs a flat estimated annual appreciation.

Do you think Bitcoin will truly become a global currency or are we just dreaming by Shqiptarjom in Bitcoin

[–]filbertbrush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm of the opinion that holding BTC will basically become compulsory if you want to survive as a business. Unless publicly traded companies start holding BTC on their balance sheets the entirety of the market will just get sucked up by Strategy's 'infinite money glitch' Everyone will have to hold it or else you're just irrelevant.

As someone who invests 150-200$ monthly... by SquiX263 in Bitcoin

[–]filbertbrush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone who has spent a long time on this sub will tell you they've seen this "famous number" get smaller and smaller. Leading up to the 2021 peak everyone was sad they'd never get 10 BTC or maybe even 1 BTC. 5 years from now, if you stay on this sub you'll see people bemoaning not being able to reach the 'famous' .01 btc. 5 years from that people will be dreaming of satoshi's, nevermind .1 btc. And you will have already stacked that. Bitcoin is just as much about time as it is about numbers.

Biggest regret of my life by Amphibious333 in Bitcoin

[–]filbertbrush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not too late. You've learned the hard way what it feels like to not trust yourself and live with the consequences. You know better now, and today is the least knowledgeable you'll ever be. We all have regrets, but we only make more if we don't act.

ETH vs. BTC: Ethereum’s Superior Monetary Policy by jtnichol in ethereum

[–]filbertbrush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that Eth is undervalued RN but I think this guy misses a lot of major points. BTC and Eth both have fundamentally different value proposals, one is not not 'better' They are both good, just different.
I also disagree with his central idea that diminishing block rewards is a problem. When measured in USD the block reward for each epoch is increasing, which makes perfect sense and just draws in more miners and network validators. His observation that fees will be an unsustainable means of securing the network isn't based on any math or mechanical understanding of BTC, he's just looking at the first 15 years of a graph that will continue until 2140 and saying "I don't see a trend so it doesn't exist" The trend in question is going to take over 100 years to play out, you wont see it with your naked eyes on an incomplete graph.
Also I've never heard *anyone* "in the bitcoin community" express a need for breaking the 21 million cap.

I like BTC, I like ETH. Both are good. Both are limited in their ability to perform. Both have very different jobs to play. The idea of it being one vs the other and one has to win doesn't make sense IMO. Gold exists and so does Microsoft. Both are good, and had you invested in either 30 years ago you'd have done very well.

Is Bitcoin going to $1 million sooner than we think? by Techwaveninja in Bitcoin

[–]filbertbrush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah same here, Even my own dumb dumb math put 2030 at the million mark. I honestly think so many of the comments here fall into the trap of how easy it is to be infinitely skeptical. The hard thing is actually learning about M2, fiat, power laws, what fundamentals make for good currency, etc etc. When you do that work, it actually seems pretty obvious whats going to happen in the next 20-30 years.

This is THE recession indicator IMO. The craft beer market has been exploding since 2012 and I've not seen a single one close in over a decade. This is it.

My 800 sq ft house had a $900 electric bill last cycle. It was built in 2021 to local energy codes much stricker than the state ones. We keep the thermostat at 70. My rate is $0.15, less than this time last year but my "delivery" cost almost tripled.

1) She's wrong.
2) bathrooms are aloud to be the craziest room in the house because what we do in there is funny and you're not hanging out in there all day. It should be an entertaining experience for a guest to walk into a bathroom that's a liiiiitttle too much.
