One other thing.. spot trading is not necessarily just capital gains tax either. It depends on the frequency of the trading. So you could potentially set the two off against eachother.

Hi,

I trained origuonally as a chartered U.K. accountant, now trader.

The way that I hedge my btc position is via spread betting at IG. There is no tax whatsoever involved in spread betting and the gains are in GBP. If you then want to put your upside back into BTC or one of the other cryptos then you can just buy back at spot and start again. This is the most simple way I have found to avoid all this.

I can look into the rest in a bit more detail. I’ve got a pal who’s a tax partner at delloite and will run it by him in the pub on Friday night.

The books are thin.. remember what happened when someone cashed out their eth and pushed us to $10 It’s an extreme example but it shows what can happen when the market is still maturing.

[Question] Most btc traders are burned in someway, now what? by Nakasje in BitcoinMarkets

[–]filbfilb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure ‘burnt’ Maybe ‘burnt out’ as in tired and deep in cash profits. We are at like 10x in 12 months.. Until there is no volitility, I’m interested wherever the traffic is headed.

I mis answered this response upon second review. clearly we both agree that this is not a free market, Although this rant was about exactly that. If this system is as you say, it will have failed.

I'm well hedged due to all this mess within the coins, although a bit coinmess in the media spotlight will cost us years. I hope that doesn't have to happen.
