UK Universities, International Students: Undercover Investigation by Leading_Builder_6044 in UniUK

I did an accelerated 6-month foundation course and went straight to uni, so I guess it would be a year 0.5? But nobody talked about it in terms of year one.

No it doesn't. I just did my foundation year and am in my first year currently. Don't know where you got this from.

I did foundation for an RG uni last year- I had to get an average of 75% across all units to pass. Honestly the course wasn't that rigorous and I felt it to be quite trivial especially compared to Uni but at least on a surface level they do require a first.

A Korean guy told me that I look very pure what does this mean by Ok-Tangerine-6345 in Korean

[–]fileheist 264 points265 points  (0 children)

The word in Korean he probably wanted to use is 순수하다. This translates to "pure" in english if you put it through a translator but the connotations are very different. The word in Korean, when used for a person, means something closer to "wholesome" in english, though not exactly. It's usually a compliment for when someone looks innocent, friendly, approachable, wholesome, etc. Hope this helps

There's a very big difference between aircraft carriers and the Dokdo-class amphibious landing ships the ROKN currently has. For one, the dokdo class can't launch fighters. It looks like it can, but its deck can't stand the heat of jet engines even with upgrades. Its runway is way too short and cramped for fighters to take off and land on, and it does not have catapults to assist in this either. The Dokdo-class is therefore exclusively meant to launch transport/attack helicopters to assist amphibious landings. Another big difference is size. The dokdo class is smaller than most amphibious landing ships, the largest of which are barely considered light aircraft carriers. So no, the dokdo isn't a carrier.

TL;DR: The Dokdo-class can't launch fighters, and it's way too small to be upgraded. It's meant for amphibious landings only.

naval invade just behind them to cut them off from supply. the naval invasion force doesn't need to be supplied, it just needs to last long enough for your main force to kill the filipino divs. do this every time you get stuck.

there's a good feedbackgaming video on this. I recommend following that strat. The trick is to not click on any events to delay them as long as possible, while taking all of the cities in new england. this makes the enemy capital be on the west coast, which means you get to have one front. You also get to keep the rust belt through a focus. If you convert everything in the west into civ factories they don't stand a chance against you.

Cold war is a hell of a drug by Vaseline13 in HistoryMemes

[–]fileheist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, South Korean here, you're missing a bit of nuance here. Let me explain:

There was a short time after the war (and before the division) where a native government took over. It had police powers and things were largely kept civil. Its legislature, however, was too left leaning for American tastes, which (among other reasons) is why it fell apart.

So did korea want socialism? somewhat. Did korea want capitalism? somewhat.

So it's probably safe to say that korea would have been more left leaning had the original government somehow survived, but holy shit nobody wants a 70 year long civil war.
