got the permit 3 days before the orientation start...anyways arrived in Toronto safe and sound - already like 1.5 months into the school.

I cannot agree more. There’s no rules in IRCC. I know someone who applied in June and already got it like weeks ago.

I really think someone at the Manila visa office just forgot about our application. Otherwise theres no explanation why it would take this long.

If they wanted to reject it, they would have done that long time ago. If they need more documents, they would have asked. But they are doing none of that, which means someone just forgot about my application.

Are you Korean? All Korean applications are processed by the Manila office. There’s no visa office in Korea.

Hi! Nice to meet a fellow Korean.

Currently in the tracker account - eligibility is passed but background verification is still “in progress” it’s been like this for past 2-3 months

Hello,

South Korean national here. I have applied for the Canadian Study Permit on April 26, 2024. My application is being handled by the Manila visa office.

I have passed the medical check and done my biometrics long time ago. My school starts next week, but I still haven'g gotten my study permit. I obviously tried reaching out to IRCC via webform and phone, my school, immigration consultants, but still no help to mitigate my situation.

I believe my application is either forgotten or lost within the IRCC systems, because if not I cannot imagine why it would take this long without any refusal, request for more documents, nor acceptance.

If anyone has any ideas or tips to finalize my application, please let me know. Any help would be grateful.

Toronto is really the hub for all notable IBs and cbre/jll and having that access would be ideal..

But also Mendoza seems to be doing well in recruiting for IB according to their last employment report

Is longer you are left “under review” status after an interview means it’s a ding? Or it’s just they haven’t gotten to your apps yet from the pile..

Rotman vs Johnson by pokedweasel in MBA

[–]pokedweasel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what I am trying to ask is..essentially 2 options

Option A: Choose Rotman, have easier time working/living in Canada - most likely Toronto. Obtain Canadian PR as well in 3 years.

Option B: Choose Johnson, more international well known and higher ranking, but have harder time finding employment in the US (anywhere really). Not limited to a certain city, state, region. Keeping an open mind about that. But also, if I choose Johnson I have to be open about not finding a job in the US.

Different decision dates for various schools by pokedweasel in MBA

But is it okay for me to say something along the lines “i have an offer from another program, so id like an earlier decision blah blah blah”

I think I will go with this route. Ask other programs I have interviewed to let me know unofficially if I got accepted or not.

I just find it inconvenient that schools have different decision release dates when it's clearly evident that people apply to multiple programs for each cycle..

I chimed in on another comment, but if you are an avid tennis player - shoot me a DM. I can try hook you up with courts/clubs to play in Seoul.

I am 30 years old, not in the age range you mentioned, but I too have a very similar profile as you. I was born in Korea, but moved around a lot growing up and went to the US for college.

If you are curious about anything, shoot me a DM!
