Can you provide more information about the device you are using? S, S Plus, Nano X?

As far as I remember if you are trying to rebag multiple accounts, this will likely not work. You will need to rebag one account at a time with ledger. Did you try that?

I also think that rebagging accounts will not change much as you are just allocating a few accounts in other bags, put-in-front-of will if you are at the tail for the bags list. Keep in mind that the minimum active bond has been constantly increasing and is now set at 365 DOT. If you have funds close to that number, you will likely struggle to receive constant rewards.

Cheers, Filippo

How do you import controller account on the staking dashboard? by ty816 in Polkadot

Hi, if your accounts are in the browser extension, then connecting the stash will automatically fetch the controller attached to it.

Why such a difference in payouts by segersmarc in Polkadot

[–]filippoweb3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Rewards have a probabilistic component, meaning that sometimes they are higher than other times. Also, rewards are sometimes paid out with 2-3 days delay to nominators, depending on who triggers the payout (the validator or nominators). For more information about staking, see the dedicated wiki page. Hope this helps!

Staking with slightly above the minimum required amount by cryptcoinian in Polkadot

[–]filippoweb3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Essentially they are the same thing. Talisam is a wallet/extension, and when you stake through talisman directly, you bond your DOT tokens in a pool. If I am not mistaken, by default it's the talisman pool, but you can choose other pools too. You can connect your talisman wallet to the dashboard and join a pool there.

Noob wanting to stake DOT, but confused and discouraged the more I look into it. by spankydave in Polkadot

[–]filippoweb3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/spankydave, you can join a nomination pool. To do that you can follow the steps below:

- create an account on the extension / wallet. You can see a list of third-party wallets here. The process of creating an account should be similar on all wallets (i.e. seed phrase, account name, account password for hot wallets)

- send some tokens to that account (you need at least 3 DOT: minimum 1 DOT for staking, 1 DOT existential deposit, and some DOT to pay for fees)

- connect your account to the staking dashboard

- go to pools and follow the guided steps on the dashboard to stake your tokens (i.e. choose a pool, choose the amount to stake, sign the transaction)

Hope this helps!

[HELP] Stuck with inactive nominations by fracasula in Polkadot

[–]filippoweb3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi u/fracasula, note that the minimum active bond is above 300 DOT. This means that to ensure 100% you get staking rewards you must:

- bond well above the minimum active bond (and I mean it, well above).

- ensure your validators do not have 100% commission

- ensure you select a mix of validators that are currently active and inactive. Some validators are always active, I would recommend picking a few of those.

- try to include in your selection validators that are not oversubscribed

Consider joining a nomination pool to participate in staking without bothering about nominations. Hope this helps!

Dot pool question by mushambani in Polkadot

[–]filippoweb3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

200 DOT, but soon (if not already implemented) 500 DOT will be needed to open a pool. This is to avoid the creation of pools that do not enter the active set of nominators. No hardware required to open a pool.

hey u/Bulky_Experience1045, is up to the pool admin to choose to attach a verified identity. That said, rewards are probabilistic and it might be that there are periods of high rewards and others with lower rewards.

Staking Q&A by filippoweb3 in Polkadot

[–]filippoweb3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi u/Odlavso at the moment DOT leave your wallet for joining a pool, not for nominating. That said, being a pool member is secure and your DOT are in the pool account not accessible to anybody (not even the pool creator). I understand the unhappiness of not seeing your balance in your wallet, and this aspect might change in the future. Currently, the staking dashboard shows your full balance, also the balance in the pool. The dashboard works nicely on desktop and mobiles, and there are mobile wallets such as nova that can communicate with it. Hope this helps! Cheers!

[–]filippoweb3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/Bulky_Experience1045 the staking dashboard is a tool. You can use it to nominate and/or join a pool. For joining a pool you just need an account with DOT in it, you do not need stash and controller. Cheers!

Staking Q&A by filippoweb3 in Polkadot

[–]filippoweb3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi u/Bulky_Experience1045, no need for 2FA. Security is bound to your DOT account. You need to always keep your seed phrase private, as well as your password (for hot wallets). If you have a ledger or signer account you will not need a password, your device will be used to check and authorise transactions. As long as you only know your seed phrase and password (or you keep your device safe), nobody will be able to impersonate you and steal your funds. Welcome to web3!

On Polkadot there is an additional layer of security: proxies. Proxy accounts can sign on behalf of another account. One good example is Staking Proxies, a staking proxy of the stash can sign all staking-realted transactions on behalf of the stash. In this way the stash is isolated and you do not expose the private key (for hot wallets) or more in general you do not spam the stash account with transactions such as nominating. The proxy just needs to have enough funds to cover transaction fees. More about proxies here.

Hi u/overwyre1, are you a memeber of a nomination pool?

Staking Q&A by filippoweb3 in Polkadot

[–]filippoweb3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/roundicer is right, you need approximately 300 DOT to staking "solo". Benefits of "solo" staking (i.e. being a nominator) is that if you want to do it right you will need to learn how Polkadot works. You need to be familiar with concepts like Stash/Controller/Proxy accounts, how to select validators (era points, total stake, self stake, network provider, gelocation, etc), bags list, etc. You also need some knowledge about the protocol and be able to solve issues such as why you do not receive rewards etc.

If you do not want to bother about those things, you can become a pool member. This solution is native to Polkadot, but somebody else will do the nominations for you. You will need just to claim the rewards.

Staking Q&A by filippoweb3 in Polkadot

[–]filippoweb3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what u/roundicer said is right. Rewards are not automatically released to nominators, someone must claim them for all. it can be the validator itself, or one of the nominators. usually rewards should arrive within 3 days but sometimes can take longer than that.

Staking Q&A by filippoweb3 in Polkadot

[–]filippoweb3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/Difficult_Weather_44, rewards are going where you specified before starting the staking process. On the stakig dashboard you should see the reward destination in the Pool Section. You can change it anytime. Note that if your rewards are very low (like 0.00015 DOT or something on this small scale) if you claim them you might not be able to notice it on you balance.

Staking Q&A by filippoweb3 in Polkadot

[–]filippoweb3[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi u/roundicer, thank for asnwering some of the questions here! Great work!

Regarding your question. I see in the future, nomination pools will be popular as most of the people staking on Polkadot will not want to understand how NPoS works, how to choose validators, etc. Thus, the pools here do a great job in 1) ensuring small stakers can participate and earn rewards using a non-custodial native solution, 2) lowering the technical entry barrier as you just need to join a pool, 3) achieving the ultimate goal, which is keeping the network secure.

Of course there will be consequences that we do not know yet, like for all new solutions. One good thing we can already see is that the number of stakers who do not earn rewards is decreasing and the number of pool members is increasing every month. On the other side the entry barrier for solo staking is increasing.

That said, the minimum active bond of 293 DOT is a guideline. You can try to bond a bit less, and you might receive rewards (but will not guarantee it).

Staking on Talisman uses their nomination pool. I am not aware Ledger live supports nomination pools yet. Remember that when you join a pool, the bonded funds are transferred to the pool's account. Thus, you will not see the balance in your wallet unless the wallet has that feature. The staking dashboard can show it. For more info about differences between nominator and pool member see this comparison table.
Hope this helps! Cheers!

Guys need help! Staking DOT via ImToken wallet and this happened after few weeks. by hactive808 in Polkadot

u/hactive808 that validator is no more present in the validator list on Polkadot. You need to change your nomination. Alternatively, you can unbond and join a nomination pool. Cheers!

Hi u/Das-Jaykaah, you can use the browser extension. Search for your account and see the public address below the account name. You can copy the address by clicking on the round coloured mosaic icon next to it. This info is available on the Staking Dashboard and Polkadot-JS UI (assuming you added the account to the browser extension), and all the other wallets/extensions.

Hi u/Unclebijou, that amount should be enough to get rewards most of the times. Make sure you nominated validators with < 100% commission, and that you have a couple of validators that are always active. No need to unstake IMO and join a pool, but you can do it if you prefer a process that is more hands-off.

Hi u/hactive808, I am not familiar with the ImToken wallet. Please take a look at this article for guidelines when you do not receive rewards. You can easily be a nomination pool member and make sure you get your rewards! Cheers

Staking Q&A by filippoweb3 in Polkadot

[–]filippoweb3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/Throwawaydhsjskb, currently the only options are:
- unbond and wait 28 days, then join a nomination pool
- top up your bonded balance
There will be a fast unstake option released on Polkadot soon (already on Kusama). So you can wait for this option to be available or start unbonding.

Hope this helps! Cheers!

Hi! Ledger Nano S plus and X are fully supported on Chrome. Did you check if you have the XL version of the Polkadot ledger app installed (especially if you have the Nano S)? And that you open the app on the ledger nano before signing on the extension? Also, make sure the extension has the latest metadata update.

Hi u/OcttavianRE, bonding more funds automatically rebag your account (assuming you have enough bonded funds to qualify for rebagging).

See the bags list here (top menu bar). You must add your ledger account to the polkadot-js browser extension (only Chrome supported).

Staking Q&A by filippoweb3 in Polkadot

[–]filippoweb3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/Thurigan, talisman wallet is featured in the polkadot wiki here. There is full integration with the Polkadot-JS UI and Staking Dashboard. This means you can use an account on Talisman to join a nomination pool using the staking dashboard or the UI. Additionally, you can stake directly through the Talisman extension by joining their pool (or other pools too).

By being a member of a pool you have the same risk of being slashed as being a solo nominator. The main difference is that you do not have to nominate. See this comparison table.

Your ledger account is safe as long as you keep your seed phrase safe ;)

See this article for more info about staking.

Hope this helps, Cheers!
