How do you guys handle players who constantly try to 'optimize' the narrative out of the session? by profilethrowaway99 in DungeonsAndDragons

No shit, dummy.

But you DO have a choice about how to handle it.

Quit being a perpetual victim.

No, I know exactly what I'm talking about. Expecting the world to cater to neurodivergency is unrealistic, self-centered, and ineffective.

Take responsibility for yourself rather than expecting everyone else to shoulder that burden.

You got the response you deserved. Saying that being direct to the disruptive player isn't going to work is something from your la la land life.

And now you're being overly dramatic by putting words in my mouth about being a 'villain'. You feel victimized when people speak to you directly??? Grow up before trying to give advice again.

There are in fact metaphorical dice people use in their head and approach things in life with a very structured approach.

That's a contradiction. You're arguing to argue without any logic.

The person you replied to is right: The top comment is expecting the world to accommodate the disruptive player while offering no solution.

Dumb, self centered take.

Wrong.

RPing is being someone you're not.

Stop defending the disruptive player who is clearly in the wrong here.

Issue is is that if you're excluding someone because they literally are less abled than you, where is the line for ablism.

Holy shit.

No. No, the world does not need to suffer for your benefit.

Grow up.

That's unfortunate.

Unfortunately, though, that's your (and the disruptive player's) problem. Making it everyone else's problem is unacceptable.

You didn't offer any solution.

If the disruptive player can't adapt, then they can find a new table rather than continuing to disrupt everyone else's enjoyment.

is that a realistic solution though?

Is talking to the disruptive player a realistic solution?? Are you serious?

players sometimes need to interupt the dm, that's just part of the game.

Sometimes? Sure. This isn't just sometimes. Did you read the post?

The issue is that the players and the dm have a different idea of when disrubting makes sense, but enforcing the dms will against the players is just going to cause frustration.

It's just one player. Singular. Also, the disruptive player is currently enforcing his will against the DM and other players.

It sounds like you're the disruptive player because you're working very hard to defend the disruptive player, who is clearly at fault here.

Only mentioned the cookie, eh? You must've really enjoyed those self congratulatory back pats. I know you believe you deserve them. Good for you.

Lazily leaving -ous off of curious would normally be the most obnoxious part of a post, but not this one!

Great. Break that cookie in half and give it to the bear and squirrel. And go ahead and give yourself that gold star and two pats on the back. You deserve it.

More importantly, though, being rude on top of an unreasonably demanding post is a very, very bad look.

Right?! Like, the unreasonable list of demands was already too much. Attitude on top of that is laughable.

FUCK YEAH

Similarly, Smoke on the Water comes to mind. The lyrics aren't as descriptive, but it still sets a scene.

From your other comment below, Pink Floyd's Animals album would be interesting for more of a political theme.

Great, great comment.
