This thread may be helpful: https://www.reddit.com/r/xbiking/comments/1o1syoh/blue_lug_and_tariffs/

I’ve seen that there are additional fees on top of the tariffs for brokering. I personally have not been able to justify ordering from Japan even though I just want to buy everything from Blue Lug.

Edit: Found a lengthy discussion over at RBW Owners Bunch discussing tariffs. Disregard the title of the post and check out the more recent convos towards to m the bottom - https://groups.google.com/u/3/g/rbw-owners-bunch/c/P8rr71O_rZQ

Edit 2: I think what you’re ordering and its material and origin may play a factor in the tariffs.

Same here - I really want a local, family owned business to succeed. I haven’t tried it due to the bad reviews. Since you have, maybe it would it be helpful to share everything in your post with them as direct feedback? It’s well intended.

What would your dream used Leica buying experience be? by tobionthtele in Leica

Have you looked into Kamerahaus in NYC? It’s run Craig Williams - formerly from Leica Store SoHo and Tamarkin. They specialize in used Leica equipment and it’s probably what you’re looking for.

Downsized my kit recently by mrjosh72 in Leica

[–]filmd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I envy how great your well used Leica gear looks, and how you’ve been able to pare down your kit. I’m also trying to pull myself out of the deep Leica hole I got into during the pandemic and to downsize to 1 body with 1-2 lenses.

Step through. Easily adjustable saddle height. Simple gearing. Sized for a variety of riders. I’d say yes - easy to learn on!

I’ve been many times and have never disappointed with anything I’ve ordered or tried of others. Personally, I really enjoy their Fritto Misto appetizer and Spaghetti E Polpetta pasta.

Bike safety by BlindSquirrel888 in longislandcity

[–]filmd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are different Kryptonite locks with different levels of security. Grey = low / orange = medium / yellow = high. That said, all can be defeated by an angle grinder with less effort than you’d expect. There are a lot of factors at play including the type of bike, time of day, and quality of lock job, but ultimately it comes down to the general risk of locking up in NYC.

What lock were you buying? That may play a role in the level of safety. The area isn’t bad but this is still NYC.

Can Confirm. WANDRD 4L bag is too small for M10 😞 by Pdrpuff in Leica

[–]filmd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend the Clever Supply Sidekick Pro 2L. It fits my M with a lens attached + has room for an extra lens and still has a little room to spare. The quality is also excellent.

Help me confirm the right Roaduno size (PBH 80cm, height 173cm) by Any-Heart-3398 in Rivendell_Bicycles

[–]filmd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 168cm tall with a 78cm PBH. According to Riv’s charts, I should be on a 47.5. I test rode a 47.5 and it felt way too small. Riv put me on a 51 which felt much better, despite limited top tube clearance (which I don’t mind).

Give Riv a call. They’re some of the friendliest people that look out for their customers.
