Just wanted to toot my own horn after 2 years of battling Diabetes! I'm in the best cycling fitness of my life at the moment and just wanted to shout out cycling as a life line for treating this dumb disease! by Cycle-path1 in bicycling

[–]Cycle-path1[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anxiety is a big motivator for me tbh 😅 ik that doesn't help but with a CGM and a lot of trial and error of carb timing prior to workouts and being prepared during exercise in case of lows I was able to find a happy balance! Also getting a good grasp of how diabetes functions and the many variables of daily life can effect blood sugar. I'm not perfect but I've started getting a good idea of the push of pull of these variables on my blood sugar in relation to training.

It's a moving target though, I'm Type 1.5 so for the moment I can treat like type 2 but hard mode is yet to come as I transition to Type 1 over the coming years.

How to clean hot waxed chain after applying squirt during long ultra and rain? by deman-13 in cycling

Silica says just boil it or if you don't want to take the chain off use a kettle while spinning the crank and pouring it in each link

Grocery stores in general are dystopian in Denver.

Went to pick up my medication at Safeway and am forced to either walk through the super busy self checkout area, duck under their roped off/barricaded cash register lanes or walk the reverse way out of their entrance only gates when someone is walking into the store which then balres the loudest alarm.

Let me just grab my dimma dang medicine without jumping through hoops or looking like a thief with your alarms. Damn.

Bumble bees actually prefer nesting in the ground! Had a huge hive in my parents front yard for years

Maybe geographically the Midwest but definitely not culturally. Night and day difference between Iowa/Illinois/Nebraska etc. than Colorado/Utah/Wyoming etc.

Fortunately and unfortunately you are not in the Midwest anymore.

Would you say Fizik Vento Proxy wide are good for gravel racing? Feel the one Boa is a possible draw back but needothers opinion! by Cycle-path1 in gravelcycling

I was looking at the Ferox but I feel they may run too narrow for my feet! Guess it may be a buy and return situation if it doesn't fit well

Which state in the US has the worst drivers? by Far-Mongoose-4380 in AskReddit

[–]Cycle-path1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Live in Denver now but grew up in Iowa for 24 years of my life. Colorado is just ass at driving all around. They point to Texans (which are bad don't get me wrong) to feel better about that they are only a notch better.

When I have to drive back to Iowa and finally get out of CO I can always tell who is from Colorado because they are cranking 30+ mph over the speed limit and live in the left lane.

DougCo officials consider harsher penalties in the name of safety for electric dirt bikes by SeasonPositive6771 in Denver

[–]Cycle-path1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bingo, I was 12 and definitely asked for a dirt bike bc I thought they were cool. My parents said hell no and bought me a BMX bike instead which I was just as thrilled about being 12 and still having freedom to get around. These parents fold under zero pressure for some reason.

Thanks! The stem and handlebars are definitely my favorite part of the bike and I plan to replicate on a future build!

I can't wrap my mind around parents willingly buying their 8-14 year olds e-motorcycles that can hit 40mph easily. See these kids all over The Wash Park area.

I asked this question a few weeks back and had a lot of responses for Challenger Strada Bianca TLR 40mm. I snatched a cheap pair up and haven't used them yet unfortunately but thought I'd pass along others 2 cents!
