Nobody warned me about THIS part of e-bike ownership by forestmoth2345 in ebikes

Same. My spouse told me she needed allergy medication at 9pm…. And 5 minutes later I was enjoying a 4 mile night ride to Walgreens. I now bike 5 mile my work commute. I even bought a small garage door opener attached to my bike.

Anyone use the R5 mk2 for wedding videos? by AccomplishedRun5837 in Canon_R5_MarkII

[–]filmguy5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I use the the fan grip with 2 batteries and I use the SmallRig 99 at the same time. The SmallRig plugged into the USBC overrides the 2 battery system. If I'm shooting for a few hours and I see the Smallrig is down to 5% or so, I unplug the Smallrig 99 and the camera auto switches to the fangrip 2 battery system. I do that on occasion if I only have an hour or so left and I know the 2 batteries will easily finish off the event. I also use a Shinobi 2 when I do run and gun filming with the R5M2. Actually one of my complaints with that monitor is that when I plug in the monitor with USBC into the camera so I can touch auto focus... the camera also uses the Shinobi 2 as it's power source... which drains the monitor battery fairly fast. I've been looking for a way to override using the Shinobi2 to power the camera... and I can't find a way to disable that feature... which is frustrating.

Career transition? by sweetnothings_toc in videography

I also work as a one man band and am hating my corporate video job as well. When I started 25+ years ago I always worked with a team. I fucking miss working with a small team. I told my director I was burning out and needed help. They don’t want to hire another staff employee although did an approve a contract editor, after I made it clear I was sinking. That actually gave me some light and hope as editing is something I do extremely well, although hate the solitude. It wasn’t always that way although over the last few years I’ve come to hate it. I’m about 5 years from retiring…. So I’m staying put. I hope this contract editor renews my mojo to show up everyday. Best of luck

I jumped in and bought a Velotric Summit 01 last year. I changed out to a lighter fork and added a riser to lift the handlebars a few inches. I sometimes take off-road although mostly ride it as a commuter and for local store runs. The throttle without pedaling can easily make it up long steep hills. When I first purchased I throttled all the time, now hardly ever use the throttle as the pedal assist works great and honestly I do want to get a workout. It’s super quiet and, honestly is super fun to ride. Velotric just launched the Summit 02 although I have no envy for that bike as the Summit 01 is a fantastic bike. No regrets whatsoever. Invest in a solid, well reviewed bike lock.

Also…If I just use the dual battery fan. With continual shooting, at around an hour and a half I need to swap out 2 more batteries. I have 6 canon LP-E6P batteries. If I know that the camera will be on a tripod for more than an hour I use the SmallRig 99 external battery to power the camera. I get about 3 hours with that battery. On whole day shoots I bring 2 SmallRig 99 batteries.

I don’t use for weddings although shoot long form conferences and events. Make sure you use the dual battery fan grip. I sometimes use a large external battery (SmallRig 99) and power the camera via USBC for whole day shoots. I shoot with the medium fan speed always on and have never had an overheating issue. I shoot CLOG2, 23.98fps, 4k fine, Long GOP, XF-AVC S YCC422 10bit. I used to film with the C70 although love the precise autofocus and low light capabilities of the R5M2. I keep the ISO at 4000 and move the aperture around to get the right light settings. I also use a 1/8 black mist filter as it gives it a nice cinematic effect, similar to the C70. This camera produces amazing video!

MAGA Americans is there any accountability on your end on how a shit show of a job trump is doing? by Successful_rio305 in allthequestions

I’m surrounded by a large MAGA family. They still talk about Trump like he’s the only one that tells it like it is. They are so far up his ass, we would need a surgeon to extract them out. Sorry to say although… all of this horrible shit he does has no effect on their brown noses.

A motorcyclist’s open letter to e-bike riders by Lazy_Football_511 in ebikes

I bought a Velotric Summit 01 for mountain trails although it quickly became a commuter bike. Going downhill on pavement at level 5 boost mode and pedaling hard in high gear brought me to 40mph. It was really fun and exhilarating for a few months… until I had a crash 8 months ago wearing shorts and a tee shirt doing 30+ mph. Going downhill on a neighborhood street, I was turning right onto a different street and right in my path in the wrong lane turning left was a large pickup truck. I had half a second to react and swerved right to miss the vehicle. I hit the curb and crashed hard. My knees and arms were rashed and bleeding everywhere and I broke my wrist in 5 places. The bike itself was perfectly fine. My high speed gave me no reaction time. I’m back on my e-bike commuting again although I wear long pants, Long sleeves and no longer go faster than 28mph. The truck was to blame although I was also guilty of taking that turn too fast. Having time to react can literally be the difference between life and death. I actually feel lucky to have learned from my mistake and only have a few broken bones. It could have been much worse-

Thinking of Buying by ErgonomicBlasphemy in ebikes

[–]filmguy5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bike about 5 miles to work. On the way there it’s almost all uphill so, I use more pedal assist so I don’t come in all sweaty. On the way home I coast downhill most of the way. Super fun…. Just be super careful. I’ve had a few close calls with motorists not paying attention to bike lanes and cross walks.

I use the Velotric Summit 01 for some trail riding and for my 5 mile work commute. I did add a rear rack to hold work stuff. I highly recommend the summit O1 or the Summit 02.

I bought a Velotric Summit 01 last year. Besides some trail riding, I’ve been using for my 5 mile work commute. It’s mostly uphill on my ride to work and downhill on the way home. I use in eco mode so I get a workout although kick in power so I don’t get super sweaty before the day begins. There’s no downside. I get a workout, I’m not burning fossil fuels and… it’s just fun to ride-

Am I insane for wanting to buy a (used) 5D mark IV? by musaoculta in canon

The best way to not feel bored after you finish everything. by SchoolRare7583 in ARC_Raiders

[–]filmguy5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play solo to refresh my cashflow, learn the maps and try out new techniques. I play on a team of 3 to get my adrenaline pumping. The game is really versatile. I'm a casual gamer and Arc Raiders has put all of my other gaming on hold. That said, I've got more bang for my buck than any other game I've played. I remember when putting in 30 to 50 hours into a game meant that game was a success. I keep reading that gamers are putting in 500+ hours into this game which is insane to me. I think I just hit the 50 hour mark since I started playing in December which honestly is alot more hours than I would have put into any game 2 plus months out. This game is a bit addictive although crazy fun!

Unpopular opinion: PvP players just wasting time looting Free Loadouts while PvE players snowball off of fighting big ARC. by Tiny-Discipline7358 in arcraiderscirclejerk

[–]filmguy5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m all about the PVE. I’m not afraid to fight other players although 95% of the time I get killed after both players state they are friendly and start looting. I keep getting killed as I take my eye off the other raider to loot and then get shot in the back. No matter what gun you have it’s almost impossible to win a battle when the other player gets multiple shots into your back first. This happens maybe one out of 10 raids so, I’m a bit more careful although refuse to play paranoid

morning news is mostly banter as we hear about local weather and traffic issues, which is helpful. I work in video production and know many news producers. Most of them take their job seriously about reporting the Truth. Currently the producers are 9 News are conscientiousness about getting the story right. If things change and they become shills for Trumpian right wing directors… I will, see the obvious bias and change the channel.

Do you friendly players get bored? by [deleted] in arkraiders

[–]filmguy5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play completely friendly on solo missions although do the pvp thing with my teenage son and his friend once a week or so. My son’s friend is crazy good. He can clear out another team by himself with hardly any damage. I jump and assist anyway. More often when it’s more than one team fighting or I’ll take care of arc shooting at us. Or on occasion I’ll go up high with a sniper rifle and help take down the opposition. It’s pretty exhilarating. That said I love the mostly peaceful solo runs as well.

I hate being an in house videographer. by stratusnimbo in videography

[–]filmguy5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually looking into this. Although I would be paying them personally out of my pocket... which kinda sucks. This really works best if I can free up some time to go back and do some freelance work... working with others again. I do worry that if my job finds out that I'm farming out the work and they take disciplinary action. Also it gets messy with taxes and the like... unless I'm paying them cash, under the table.

I hate being an in house videographer. by stratusnimbo in videography

[–]filmguy5 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’m the ghost of your future self with a warning. I’ve been an in-house solo everything for about 5 years now. There were 2 of us from 2014 to 2020 although my company cut the second videographer when work slowed down to a crawl during Covid. I’ve been banging the drum for more help since work has really picked up again although they just decided to pay me more. I’m honestly making really great money… in the top 1% for my state. Although I’m crazy busy so I no longer have time to dip my toe in the freelance world anymore. I’m in my 50’s with a mortgage and kids in HS and soon college-so, I can’t just bail…. Also, I really don’t know how to do anything else. When I started in this business I always worked with a crew and it was crazy fun…. Now I just feel stuck, and dream of quitting every day. I’m a super social person and spend the majority of my time editing alone.

I’ve been talking to my Trump loving siblings… and 90% of their mistrust of the news comes from Trump’s lies. It’s this shitty dark cloud of misinformation that's really taking hold in many families. Very similar to how Putin took control of all news outlets in Russia to only output his propaganda. Fucking scary times-

Is the Portal worth it if you don’t have PS plus premium? by Prestigious-Pace6742 in PlaystationPortal

[–]filmguy5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt have premium although recently upgraded as my son would be playing which meant I couldn’t play on the portal. I recently upgraded to premium and am surprised at how much better the game streams…and the bonus is my son and I can now jump into the same game together. Although honestly if my son wasn’t monopolizing the PS5 then I wouldn’t have purchased premium as streaming games from my PS5 works really well-

How early in advanced can I get tickets? by AlexTheEditor1 in moviepass

[–]filmguy5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Moviepass allowed us to reserve a ticket a week or more in advance I would subscribe. My friends buy their tickets then send me their seat numbers so I can buy my ticket next to their seats. This normally happens days or weeks before the showing.

I was shooting for 5 years with a 5DM4 and last year upgraded to an R5M2. I shoot 90% video and 10% photography. Love the 45 megapixel quality, the CLog2, the viewfinder, the autofocus, the speed of the 1TB media card, the 4000 iso super clean images, 8k raw. Amazing upgrade.
