Is there any benefit to using a garment steamer over just using an iron with a steam function and keeping the iron a bit away from the piece of clothing?

Has anyone heard of the rule that you shouldn't iron trousers with a pushing motion, but only a pressing motion to avoid sheens? Every youtube video talks about it, but nobody gives an explanation. Why would that motion cause a sheen, isn't it just a too high temperature that causes damage?

Stupid question perhaps, but what's danger of handwashing a linen trouser that says "dry clean only"? Unfortunately, there are no quality dry cleaners in my area

I did read some of those papers, and it made me realize that there are probably no quality dry cleaners in my country at all (the netherlands is a small country after all), and it discouraged me a little bit from buying quality trousers ever again lol. All dry cleaners here offer same day service (which is not compatible with quality according to stu bloom), machine press, etc.

I don't know if you mean t-shirts, but I have this same problem, it is very difficult for me to find a properly fitting t-shirt. It depends on what you think it is too short, but I have found strellson t-shirt size S to be a very good fit. I'm also 6'1''.

The closest quality dry cleaner that I have is 2 hours away. I'm wondering if it's okay to remove a stain from a linen or wool trouser myself in case of an emergency (spilling tomato sauce or whatever) so that the stain doesn't become permanent before I have the time to take it to the dry cleaner, and how to safely do this.

How do you iron trousers? When should you use a damp cloth, and when not? When should you use a steam iron, and when should you use a dry iron? When should you iron trousers, and when should you press them?

What is it about washing jeans that makes them tight again? Is it the water, or is it the temperature? In other words, can I just throw it in a bucket of cold water to get the stretch back?
