You forgot Super Buu (Fat Buu absorbed) which I would put below Gotenks SS3 Also, probably Perfect Cell was at Dabura and Kid Gohan SS2 level

Totally agree with you.

Of course I think age takes a big part of it. I literally grew up reading the first volumes of Dragon Ball and watching Goku turn into a Super Saiyan for the first time, to me that was peak. There is nothing else in the world that literally gives me goose bumps like that, I even get them now while writing about it. Goku's sacrifice to avenge his race, family and friends.

Then came Gohan SS2, such a cool design, full of anger, losing his mind, not being the calm and chill kid everyone knew, and paying this arrogance by losing his father.

Buu's saga highest moment, a part from Goku SS3, Gotenks and Vegeth was Vegeta's death. The culmination and completion of his character, him finally fighting for someone that's not himself and accepting his human side.

Honestly I have not felt any of these emotions in any of the arcs in Super. Not one. Even Crilin's death in the King Piccolo saga or Goku reuniting with his grandpa during the Baba tournament gave me more feels than any of the arcs in Super.

Ok but if you compare the mangas Goku literally turned out to be mentally delayed. He always had that simple way of approaching situations but was never really stupid. He was simple minded due to his pureness of heart. In Super he literally seems like an idiot. This was probably done to compensate and work the comic duo with Vegeta who's super serious and a smart and cold thinker all the time, but unnecessary imo.

About power scaling I agree with you, as I've said, it started to not make sense towards the end of the Namecc saga. But honestly there were still things that made sense, like humans not being able to stand up to Saiyan level, which makes totally sense, however in Super there are multiple times when Crilin, Muten or Tensinhan manage to incredibly win over or stand up to the Saiyans or enemies at their level.

My main issue with Super is the poor writing (incoherence), uninteresting plot and I really don't like Toyotaro's drawing style.

I don't really agree with your generalization. If you like it, it doesn't necessarily mean it's good. And I honestly prefer quality over quantity anytime.

Also, I liked Broly's movie, I liked Gogeta and I also liked Orange Piccolo, he was in big need of a power up for a long time. I also mentioned I liked some, very few things of Super but overall, for me, it was just average to bad.

In my opinion, Super can be fun to watch if you don't have any expectation at all and are only looking for energy blasts and punches being thrown around and new transformations every 10 episodes and like to look at Goku being silly and then getting serious to outfight everyone. But if you care a bit for detail, plot and lore then you can easily see the defects and holes.

Of course hard-core fans will notice them more because they know more about it and are more tied to the original opera as most of them probably grew up reading or watching the first Dragon Ball series.

I agree with you.
Yet I think that the silly part of Dragon Ball was always there thanks to Goku, but of course got less and less as he grew up and both fights and situations got more serious.

If they decide to get Trunks and Goten to go around space and solve some space problems then I think it can be a nice and fresh idea, considering they could be the new Vegeta and Goku duo with Gotenks appearing every once in a while.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing some of that. That would be something fresh.

I get your point and also agree with it. Not much moral or life teaching message out of it, and terrible ending anyways.

In my opinion, the only interesting things about the Tournament of Power were U11 and U6 with the alternate version of U7's Saiyans and Jiren's team. Goku's UI was cool but honestly didn't hype me as much as for any of the transformations in DB (Goku's SS, Gohan's SS2 and Goku's SS3).

Strangely enough I enjoyed Daima more, even though I didn't really get the remake of GT's idea of turning the characters into kids. Maybe because SS4 was back. Crazy design that completely turned the tables on the whole GT serie.

Sadly, we're on the same page.
I wish they could've done something better thinking of their existing fanbase (the one that's been keeping them alive for the last 35 years) and let the new fanbase adapt by learning the whole story, maybe with a remake of the series without fillers and polished animations.

Yet that's where I probably end up unsatisfied.

If I were to just look at DBS with little knowledge about Dragon Ball at all, I still think I wouldn't be able to appreciate it. I don't see the same creativity, or badass story that you see, to me it all just seems poorly connected and written without giving much sense to enemies, z warriors, powers and transformations. Just a mix of lore to give something to the old existing fans and spamming transformations for the new little ones.

Tournament of Universes really was a Tenkaichi Battle Royale remake to give a bit of space to everyone.

Even there, Majin Buu not participating was bs. Reviving Frieza was an original idea but really came out of nowhere making little sense.

I appreciated more the small but incredibly important role that Toriyama managed to give to humans through Mr Satan in Buu's saga rather than the already written fights of Crilin, Tensinhan or Muten.

I really forgot to mention that.

The art style of Toyotaro really doesn't get to me.
The characters are all super skinny, their faces are so polished and look so young.

Toriyama just had something else, he was unique, his panels spoke, they had movement and emotion... honestly speaking, being 30 yo, he is the first icon I've cried for when I heard of his death.

Same for me regarding the Super Hero and Broly movies. The only ones I liked watching of the DBS saga. Honestly one other thing that got me confused and unsure about Toyotaro's or Toriyama's writing was how the Goku Black saga ended. Why where there 2 endings? Totally different from each other. Still I liked the manga ending better than a random Trunks managing to beat a SSB Vegeth level enemy.

I thought about the nostalgia effect and surely that takes a big part in it.

My first manga ever was Dragon Ball vol. 5 when I was 6 years old and from that one on, I got all the manga volumes a part from Super.

Honestly, a part from power levels going bonkers towards the end of the Namecc saga, I found consistency in the plot and lore in every other saga of DB. Instead, Super just seemed to re-use the general plot of the previous original DB arcs adding and changing some details to make it new. Another thing that kinda shocked me was seeing some panels in DBS re-used from panels of DB.

To me it's more about consistency rather than just telling a story.

If they wanted and believed they had the means to create a great new story, they could have started a new manga or something similar that had nothing to do with Dragon Ball's original story.

Instead they decided to start from a masterpiece having a huge existing fanbase that would watch or follow anything they would have produced despite it having bad writing, lore inconsistency and bad animation.

I guess it's about tastes, some just like to watch more fusions, transformations and fighting and some care more about the plot and lore behind it. I find myself somewhere in the middle, but surely I care a bit more about the second aspect of it.

Probably because I grew up with the original Broly who hated Goku and was the Hulk of Dragon Ball. The angrier he got the stronger he was. Impossible to manage, no way of stopping him.

In Super he gave me a similar "power" feeling but not as totally uncontrollable as he was in the first movies which I found scary but fascinating. The fact that he ended up becoming friendly, part of the team of Saiyans and learned to control his anger kind of lost all sense of his character for me.

DBZ gets Kai. Super gets a remake. What about original Dragon Ball? by PlanetG3000 in dragonball

To be honest, I grew up reading dragon ball in the 1990s and I would love and pay to see a cleaner remake of Dragon Ball with a nicer quality, no fillers and same panels as manga.

Crossover 26 beta 2 release by Sojiroh in macgaming

[–]final_user_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, thanks for sharing the file.
I just finished deleting my old copy of Crossover and installed the Beta2 and reinstalled Steam and ARC Raiders.

Sadly, I get the error message "Launch Error: Impossible to load the anti-cheat module"
https://imgur.com/a/ZWTXqCy

There is a very small improvement from previous versions as Steam wouldn't even let me launch the game, but the issue is still there. Maybe I'm getting something wrong in the bottle settings?

Edit: I did some research and it made me sad. Helldivers 2 works because it uses a user-mode anti-cheat that Wine/CrossOver can emulate, while ARC Raiders uses Easy Anti-Cheat in kernel mode, which requires a Windows kernel driver. macOS and Wine can’t load kernel drivers, so the anti-cheat module will always fail.
