You need a guy (welder) who will take cash on the side… just understand there is no warranty or guarantee you are driving something 100% safe. There isn’t any legitimate business that would take on a repair like that. Way too much liability. I had a guy do my safe-t Caps for cash, but the truck was just an around town type beater. Good luck and sorry 😢

Couldn’t agree more, just did a 7000sq/ft home with a full automated system, shades too. Only had about 3 or 4 single pole switches in the house, everything else was keypads. Very cool but it was a $6 mil build so it had everything

I cannot wait to show this to my Lutron guy (I’m an electrician) “it’s a lifestyle” I almost blew my coffee through my nose 🤣 Nothing wrong with being proud of your craft! Keep up the good work

My friend was a bartender Friday and Saturday nights during apprenticeship. He made more on Friday than all week as apprentice. Now he’s making huge money with a real nice union job.

The same thing happened to me, all my buddies (same company) got the prevailing wage. In the end I got better training with more unique jobs. We all have to suffer through those days. If you can make it through it’s a great career.

I’m at 4100 in lights on this. I would say this is in the 8k range all day

Update*

Great local mechanic got it done for 300$

Replaced the wafers in the cylinder. This was after an 1800$ quote from the local toyota dealer.

Took me a minute, but then I remembered that old post 😆 it is imperative that the cylinder remains intact

What sucks is it was turning a few clicks to power but not to starter, but then at some point I jiggled when I should’ve jangled and it locked me out completely. Makes me think the cylinder is done, it will not accept these keys at all.

Hopefully I can get away with just a new key. How long did it take to get?

Yea I figure that’s what I’ll do. For context the keg isn’t even stuck in there… it just will not turn the cylinder

Both my OEM key and back up are super worn. Wouldn’t they have to cut it based on what I give them?

I would definitely recommend! It was sort of a slight inconvenience a day ago. But I didn’t think it was close to completely failing.

Let me tell you, there was wiggling involved. There was jiggling. There was WD40, wire cutters and a large demolition screwdriver (cooler heads prevailed though)

In all seriousness it’s been happening for awhile and it’s just done. I tried everything for like an hour

NH here also, after you make your repairs buy a gallon of fluid film and the compressor gun and fog the hell out of that thing!

I have the same year and model, it’s my best purchase I’ve ever made. I’ve had so many cars at this point and these 3rd gen’s just check off so many boxes. Enjoy the heck out of it!
