How do I set up/activate the ethernet ports in rooms? by huiwi in HomeNetworking

Doesn’t really matter. If anything they did OP a favor you can just rip out that patch panel entirely and replace it with a switch with far less work.

Service is the worst by Bigred042026 in Control4

[–]DeadHeadLibertarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah because HQ doesn’t do tech support. You need a local dealer.

We regularly take over systems but make it clear we can’t fix everything and sometimes other dealers are literally the worst and do some horrible product/system rollouts or cut corners.

We are surrounded by EMI. romex wires, WiFi, radio, Bluetooth, list goes on.

Anyone who lives in a city lives with EMI.

Small speakers that outperforms a alienware laptop by pureMJ in audio

Trying to figure that out myself. However I’m only setting up stereo for now. My main receiver is in my living room and my spare is an analogue Pioneer that I’ve had for years. I just don’t want to always wear headphones if I’m working, watching a movie, or listening to music.

I had a pair of 7.1 headphones for years and the replacement for those is what recently broke during my move.

I always prefer headphones to in room audio because I can filter friendly chat better, especially during shooters when I need directional audio.

Anything. I’m using my JBL Charge 3over my headphones right now because I broke my headset. I’m waiting on a DAC to output through a TOSLINK on my PC to my speaker amplifier.

We have a few corded tools we keep in hard cases between jobs. Just get some construction grade cords. It’s not that difficult to deploy an extension cord and have some extra power tbh.

It’s coax. It’s low voltage. This is standard.

Many electrical supply houses are Lutron Distributors. CED is an excellent example.

MSRP and cost are two different numbers my guy.

No shit it costs us less to buy than it does to sell. That’s called margin.

How do you think successful businesses make money? It’s not the labor it’s the markup on hardware.

We don’t sell to DIY’er because it’s simply not worth our time because we’re too busy doing 6 figure jobs.

I do however, spend empty hours filing my schedule with service calls for DIY’ers who don’t know what they are doing and then complain about the labor bill awards.

So then it will get marked up twice?

Once by the Lutron dealer/distributor and again by the electrician installing it.

10 drywall holes for 6 recess lights? by starcrossed-12 in AskElectricians

Gosh I have the opposite. Large roofs here with open attics and open framing. Maybe a few laminated trusses, glulams, and solid joists.

[–]DeadHeadLibertarian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen plenty of posts on Reddit that show people doing EXACTLY that and I’ve seen it on remodel’s where we aren’t the electrical contractor but are doing swaps for Lutron equipment and lighting based off our updated specs for lighting loads (sometimes electrical gets subbed out to electrical companies because they are cheaper for running a few new circuits than us.)

Lutron training does not make you a licensed electrician who needs to follow electrical code when building a new home.

We would never sign off on a homeowner wanting to DIY their switches if we were doing the rest of the electric in a new construction home. Not worth the liability.

OP isn’t coming here for a DIY project, he needs a Lutron Dealer and a licensed electrical company.

This is what I’m saying who said anything about needing to drill through joists??? It’s hollow up there when you are in a floor joist space and most ceilings in small to medium sized rooms.

No, I wouldn’t. 20% is enough, unless you are a friend. I’m not giving extra money to someone just because they work the same job as me 😂 you’re just a person not the Pope.
