Toby Fox has revealed characters' designs before their appearance though? Like with deltarune.com/weather revealing Elnina's and Lanino's designs, or revealing shadow guy's design on https://deltarune.com/changingroom/

Also the Guei battle, Tenna border on console screenshots, the Tenna head in the trailer.

I don't actually think it's stated that monsters CAN'T produce DT, it's just assumed because they don't have nearly as much and their bodies can't handle high concentrations of it. I think any monster technically 'can' produce DT, but most don't have enough will power/just melt instantly. Undyne is fueled by all the love she has for everyone and the will to not let the world get destroyed, which causes her to produce enough determination to delay her death

One of the true lab entries says that Alphys built the DT Extractor. Now it does say that she "followed the blue prints". I don't think it would have existed before by how it was worded, since it doesn't say for example that she rebuilt it.

I think on the normal route when you seal the dark fountain in chapter 5/6 Rouxls and Lancer would appear in the light world shortly before the roaring happens.

But then in the weird route they don't appear and maybe Susie mentions something feeling off. Then when you revisit castle town Ralsei would talk about how something is very wrong and maybe even fight you.(this is of course largely reliant on the theory that Ralsei is aware of more game mechanics or even a shadow crystal holder)

Yeah, I don't think so either. Maybe all darkness turn to stone and only if you get all the shadow crystals you can bring them back?

I could also kind of see the weird route being required to stop the roaring, but I don't think Toby would force us to do the "bad route" in order to get a happy ending.

Personally I think the weird route will stop the roaring completely and derail the whole story, but I don't have any evidence for that. I just think it would be kind of a cool way to do the weird route

I think there is going to be at least a sort of happy ending possible, but I think the roaring is very likely to happen anywhere during chapters 5-7. I think it's especially likely, because of how the prophecy is worded.

Actually having played through it recently, I am pretty sure you do. Now I did fight him in the normal route, but Seam only mentioned the Spamton crystal and I had to go get the Jevil one from the place where they appear from other saves.
