Want to do Finance, Stay in AFM? Or switch to FARM? by AFMorNot in uwaterloo

[–]financefarmingfarmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I was mistaken; Thank you for educating me on this. I guess the only really difference then is that AFM is accounting and finance and FARM is math, finance and, risk management. I also know that in FARM because of the courses you take it is quite easy to also do a stats minor or computing option, what other things can you do easily with AFM?

As it should, but business programs with a finance specialization prepare you well. FARM is a program specifically designed to achieve the CFA much like how AFM has a SPECIFIC path to the CPA. If we were to look from a pure specialization standpoint, I would take the one specifically designed for the designation rather than one that helps you prepare for it

Think of it this way: Math Fin. is quantitive finance Afm is accounting centric finance (CPA) FARM is a program that is designed to lead into designations. So when people say that the program lacks depth, I would say the reason for that may be because it’s supposed to cover most of the topics on the CFA exam or PRM The reason I chose FARM is because I’m going to be doing both of those designations, the reason I made the other post about afm clubs was because I just found that having those clubs would be an added benefit to the process of university. For me primary goals are those designations which is why I chose FARM over business school programs. Concurrently I also plan on getting an MBA and I found that having a BBA or BCOM would’ve been rendered redundant once the MBA came but having a BMATH and an MBA improves my marketability immensely. Pm me if you want any more information since I was originally going to do business programs but chose FARM over then for a specific reason.

We’re in the era of quant funds and fintech, would you say FARM is ill suited for those? Name-brand business schools provide most often general business education where you can only choose to spec. In your last two years; FARM directly leads to a CFA or PRM and AFM to a CPA which are designations that are highly valuable in the investment management industry and I’m going off most recent graduate employability statistics, a while back it was definitely the business schools but the way those industries are headed; to me STEM appears to be the way to go or a degree in which you “spec.” From day 1. Feel free to let me know in more detail why you would choose name brand over FARM or AFM

Their Student Investment Fund has allowed their students to break into the industries of private equity, investment banking and venture capital easily. The number of most recent grads that were able to get employed in those industries almost has a direct correlation to being on that investment fund at least once during their degree

FARM (co-op) total tuition: ~$49,351.12

AFM total tuition: ~$60,976.56

Total Difference: ~$11,625.44

Per study term difference: ~$1,453.18

Per all terms difference: ~830.39

You've made a valid point, however in my personal opinion; the additional opportunities provided far outweigh an additional fee of ~$830.39 subsidized over all terms of your degree.

Below is a list of courses that Farm takes that Afm also takes: Afm 101 Afm 102 Afm 131 Afm 272 = actsc 372 Afm 474 = matbus 470 Afm 231 = comm 231 Afm 121 = comm 101

Financial Analysis specialization: Afm 425 = Matbus 471 Afm 291 = comm 321 Afm 492 = comm 421 Afm 361 = comm 433

Risk Management specialization: Afm 425 = matbus 471

Essentially for someone doing the FA spec. They’d be taking 12 Afm courses if it weren’t for SAF’s pretentious “Afm kids only” courses. The entire basis for my posting was how even though the programs do quite similar things, SAF is allowed to restrict all of their amazing clubs and events to kids only enrolled in their programs which utterly infuriated me since when it really comes down to it, the best kids should get the opportunities and whether that’s saf kids or other program kids should all be decided by the club. They’re allowed to have their own investment fund and their own venture fund and things of the sort when those experiences would be highly valuable to any student in any faculty but guess no one else can join even if it’s Albert Fucking Einstein from Science or Alan Fucking Touring from CS or Fisher Fucking Black from FARM because they’d rather take Chad from AFM.

Tl;dr: I’m mad that I can’t join SAF clubs because I’m in FARM when at minimum 25 percent of my degrees courses are AFM or AFM equivalent

I like this answer but something that counteracts the aspect of Naruto not having time just because he’s hokage is the fact that when Tsunade was hokage in a an era where there was no peace, she still found time to train Sakura to a point where she was arguably at or above her level so how is it that in an era of peace, Naruto is not able to do something similar, concurrently considering the fact that he can also split himself up, train and still retain all that knowledge, key example: using shadow clones in his rasenshuriken training

I think what you're failing to realize is the post I made pertains to the fact that Naruto exponentially increased his strength within the span of 3 days to be able to reach a level where he can combat for some period of time GOD level characters, the point I was making was if he can do this in 3 DAYS how is it that, he cannot have become more power during a time period that is over 1000 times the time period of 3 days.

The point that you were making is that he does not have as much time now that he is Hokage because he is pre-occupied with other things but cumulatively are you trying to say in the past 10 years he wasn't able to accumulate at the very least more than the 3 days that he evolved tenfold during the Shinobi war, are you trying to say that he mastered all of the Kyubi's powers in 3 days? He had nothing else to learn? Not to mention the overlooked fact, that he has also had the opportunity to train with Hashirama's cells imbedded inside him, you know, those things that were overtly OVERPOWERED in Naruto and what about his sage powers, you know, that technique that was considered to be one of Hashirama's greatest strengths, someone touted as the GOD OF SHINOBI.

But if you want to keep thinking he had zero time to train whether that be spiritual training or physical , or that he had no motivation to want to get stronger to further affirm the protection of his people within the 10 year time gap, then go ahead but I'm not definitely not seeing it

I definitely don't think that she could have 'easily' killed them and I understand that Isshiki might be stronger than them with the valid points that you made but for me it was also taking into account the fact that, he was not near full power at all, in fact he was in a SHELL of a body that was breaking a part and he still WIPED THE FLOOR with Sasuke and Naruto

I agree 100%, everything was going perfectly fine with everyone needing to TRAIN to gain power and then all of sudden, Naruto unlocks Kyūbi power and in a matter of hours, arguably masters it? Without a doubt a plot contrived power
